Homeguards
Honestly, on many of my Junglers that I am fairly proficient at, Homeguard buying was a static sign of myself being ahead of or on point of the game. Typically on my Shyvana games, buying my jungle item then proceeding onto boot upgrade into homeguard by the 12 - 14 minute mark is a sign for me that I'm going at a pace far ahead of the enemy jungler. And post homeguard I am always able to keep my lead ahead by being smart and capable of macro level presence and gameplay. While I do think having the homeguard post 20 is a good idea for pretty much any other role, I can't seem to shake the idea that some champions that I used to play a certain way can't function at it's old snowball heavy type gameplay.
However, I noticed that homeguard being automatically added post 20 minute mark to every single player is just giving into the idea that "games should end quicker". I don't like this, I like going at an average game time of 30 - 35 minutes, as some silly players before me have said, games are ending much quicker and snowballing is really out of control.
I like a lot of the new updates, but homeguards being free completely and not a decision for players is a bad idea. It used to save me a total of 1 - 2 minutes in game from running in and out of base, it used to be for players to buy early and go back to farming within record time. I cater my gameplay towards top/jungle/mid and this is my worry that these roles will be unable to go at the same pace as each other with what I think Season 6 is starting to become.
From what I see games are typically a hell of a lot more quicker to end. The time my games usually end is around the 25 minute mark now. Which, I must say, is not enough for even Homeguards to even save 30 seconds.
