[ADD] Press twice to self cast. Please

Ninottolo··11 votes·1,411 views

Newbies may find difficult to self cast by pressing alt+key, especially during team fights ,and normal casting on themselves isn't that easy while moving if your camera isn't locked.I don't think that it's hard to implement,dota2 is one example of it.For people that could say that smart cast or spamming the spell while you're locked down by the enemy could be a problem, the option will be toggleable. So please, talk about what you think, and let the devs notice us,thank you. Also in dota2 people finds difficult to double press to selfcast with quickcast active,so for people with quickcast the feature isn't a reliable choice.but sure you can always get used to it.

Why is it difficult for newbies to hold alt to self cast? It's the best and most reliable way to do it...

Everyone knows you don't grow extra finger length until you hit diamond

People like me that use items on zxcvbn may save some milliseconds by pressing twice the same key instead of alt binding

People spam ability keys though, this might cause issues, would be toggle-able right?

Of course, nothing will change for who doesn't like that

How does the game know you don't want to cast the spell immediately on first press though? Do people automatically get a .5 second delay on all abilities or something as the game waits to see if there's a second keypress, or how would that be handled?

It's hard to make quickcast and "double press to selfcast" compatible.you can imagine various situation. Yes,there will be something like 0,2sec before the "double cast receiver" goes off.

If you are not quickcasting, there's no need for any delay as you need to click to target your ability anyways. Just make it go off self-cast when you doubletap without clicking in-between, and act normally otherways.

There's no issue if it's a targeted ability that can also be used on yourself. It's skillshots that would be a problem.

hell I didn't even know you can self cast with alt+key until now but good suggesstion. that doesn't sound like a natural way to do it

I just self cast my ult since there isn't really that much need for my other abilities to have it, and I binded it to my t since it's right beside r

With "double press to self casting " your hand doesn't move, you know where is the ,you earn milliseconds that can make the difference in a team fight.

No, that would screw up a lot of people.

Alt+a key has been a very common button combo in a lot of PC games, anyway.

Why if it will be toggleable?nobody will know about that until he will be looking for.

Do you mean specific ability, like buffs (shields, heals, etc) or all abilities?

If it's just buffs, you can set the ability to self-cast by default in the key settings.

But what if you're lulu and your e "shield" or the disable can also be used as dmg or disable?

Vistha Kai1 votes

Basically if you set it to "self-cast by default" and cast the shield in empty space, it will be used on yourself. If you have your cursor on an ally or enemy it will be casted on them instead.

If the ability is not a buff, it will always be used where you have your cursor.
