Is there any point to play tank?

Tanks: the type of gameplay where you sacrifice damage, to be a meatshield, and help your team with soaking up as much damage as possible, and distrupt the enemy team with cc, or protect your damage dealers,

But the last whisper, black cleaver or yomuus ghostbalde combo shreds your armor to a true dmg reciever lvl.

Not once I had the horrible experience, where i played full tank cho 4k+ hp, 250+ armor/mres... and... Zed...: last whisper, black cleaver + YG. I even builded thornmail, bcs enemy team was full ad, yed a Zed+ cait bursted me out in TWO seconds. On those point i started to think about... are tanks still valiable picks? Whats a tank now when with 2 item you can nullify anyones resistance? Most game where i play tank i feel like a full ap Zyra: press your skills, and run. Or rush in, hope enemy will waste the ults on you, die in a splitsecond, and your job is "done".

Especially, when most champion reworks now are max hp dmg, current hp dmg, true dmg or the combination of these.

Most tanks now build offtank, or just full dmg, and its a more valid build than the original purpose of a tank.

Tanks where massively buffed this preseason, because armour + hp items give more hp and mr + hp items give more mr. Meaning they never need more than item 3102 or item 3065 even if the other team has a viable magic damage threat.

Tank Chogath is just not good. Build AP on him instead, with his long cool downs you pretty much need to win the fight with your first rotation of cool downs.

Yeah I see this issue a lot. Cho deals pretty great damage when he builds AP and his cc isn't reliable enough for him to count on that alone. AP bruiser builds are the best way to go on him because building some resistances on top of his innate health stacking gives him pretty decent survivability while still having good damage.

Depends on how the game goes. You can't be behind anymore as a tank like the last couple seasons.b so if enemy carry gets fed or you just don't get enough farm tanks can't tank anymore. The 8% dmg reduction mastery is necessary.

A few weeks ago/months ago after the mundo buffs I saw a mundo hard carry his team building full tank. After which, I told my buddies "hey man mundo is pretty fucking strong right now, I'm gonna start messin with him a bit" They replied "he's really not that strong" Here we are X amount of weeks later and Mundo has the best win rate in league. Unfortunately others caught on to what I had already said, mundo is extremely strong, and now with new mysteries even stronger. So if you want a really good tank I recommend mundo highly

looking at your Cho builds, they don't look "full tank" to me.

"Not once I had the horrible experience...now build offtank, or just full dmg, and its a more valid build than the original purpose of a tank." So your proving that I changed my playstyle to adapt to the situoation makes my whole discussion invalid? The sad thing, that my win ratio jumped, bcs you are more effective with agressive dmg dealer "tank" champions, than playing defensive and still outbursted when you should be the shield of the team.

there are a lot of tanks that build full tank and can do a lot of damage. the bonus armor is great in the preseason right now.

I really do not find it that hard to tank especially now with S6 buffs.

Tanks still have loads of utility as they always do. Just don't expect to carry a game in the same way a DPS champ can.

This is one of the better seasons so far for tanks in comparison to the past. It feels nice to actually take damage for a change.

I wonder how long this will last as Riot tends to cater to DPS players, who make up the majority of the LoL community. It sucks, because most DPS players just seem to have no idea how this game works. Marksman and assassin players in particular like to complain about tanks (or champs that they think are tanks anyway). Then when tanks get nerfed the same people complain when champs like Yasuo, Jax, Tryn, and [insert mobile assassin here] spiral out of control, who are generally countered by tanks in teamfights and skirmishes.
