KOG'MAW BUFF! wait? what the f...

i really liked kogmaw before all the preseason changes. after it well i was ok with it he had a rough early game but scaled great. if u could just sit and dps (never an easy task when everyone wants to dive on you) anyway. im looking at the changes on patch 5.24 and im trying to get my head round what on earth is going on.

........................................................................

basicly your taking 90% of the scaling away for a tiny bit more power early and i mean tiny. lvl1 with a dorans blade you have 1.0% max hp damage. been trying few different kog builds and ive been building ghostblade first item a bit . the active is great with kog W. building GB gives u 2% max hp damage. the same as you now get instead of any scaling.

so in simple terms your scaling far worse from one item onward. not only is your early game still weak. but your mid game is now also garbage and your late game comparatively useless.

this just make no sense at all to me kog is intended as a late-game hyper carry but you have taken away all of his hyper scaling. yet done nothing useful to his early game 1%hp damage more lvl1 is nothing ( ok its not nothing its like 5 damage per auto attack before resistances [yea that will show em!]) you still have all the problems kog has early of low damage low range no mobility high mana costs longish cooldowns. yet you have basicly 0 scaling

dont even get me started on AP kogmaw if you want to gut AD kogmaw, ok. why take away the ap ratios? before preseason they never interfered with AD kog game play why change it now? but a massive nerf to AP kog late game and take away a large part of his ability to deal with tanks.

so, new kogmaw;

still useless early even more useless mid and totaly useless late

crazy ideas

reduce his scaling slightly and give it a flat stat (like 1%) it would reduce his late game without removing it and have the same effect to his early game

removed the AD scaling leave the AP, hold a touching memorial service for AD kogmaw (ill speak) and leave AP kog how he is (cos AP kog mid is fine right now)

.................................................................

can anyone explain the logic in these changes? anyone at rito explain the thinking behind it? did you look at the math?

thank you all for reading (i have no clue if this is in the right place could someone with the relevant powers move it please if needed ty)

have a nice day

These nerfs will push Kog'Maw out of bot lane and into mid lane as an AP attack speed champ. He'll get more out of building AP then he does AD now.

The only problem is he's really susceptible to assassins and they tend to swarm mid lane and top lane might be an option for him as wel. But now that they removed the AD scaling on W you really have no reason to build AD on him.

Bork might still be good on him, but you can't call yourself an ADC with one damage item.

Frankly I think AP attack speed could work, i plan to try this build next patch.

item 3115 item 3006 item 3153 item 3124 item 3089 item 3135

Attack speed/AP rune page

and i'll probably trade in the AD keystone for an AP one.

it's really sad to see the death of AD Kog'Maw but this is what they want to do with him so be it.

I always liked AP Kog'Maw, I may have to try this build out myself.

Riot is secretly trying to get everyone to play TanKoggy.

The hilarious part? Even with the tiny amount of AD this build gives, you're still losing W damage with Riot's burf.

I never thought about wits end, could be a better choice then void staff. I dunno.

I would grab it instead of Bork if you're rolling with an AP Marksman build. The MR shred is invaluable against soft targets.

Though I still stand behind building Koggy like a ranged Juggernaut. I've had smashing success with him on Dominion, and if Kog can thrive in that Assassin-filled clusterfuck of a map while out-dueling 80% of the game's cast, I suspect he would be able to do fine in Rift, too.

Same thought. I've been a kog maw main plat player for 2 seasons. Preseason 6 Kog Maw is actually incredibly strong when building him right (for me, average 9 ~10 mins ragebladeitem 3124 and 14 mins stat shivitem 3087 ) then you are pretty much unstoppable. In fact, NOBODY outdamge your after you get rageblade at 10 mins. then I build item 3031 item 3072 item 3139 item 3006 as full build, which gives near 6% on W and about 7% when rageblade is fully stack. This build reck ANYONE in 2 seconds.

The 5.24 change , although gave a slight buff before 14 minute mark, but it completely took away kog maw's hyper scaling hypercarry position which he's always been for 5 seasons. making him a strong early-mid game ADC but kind of can't match with the top tier adcs now (i.e. Lucian MissFortune Ashe ) I think Rito need to rethink about this W nerf as it totally killed the purpose of playing Kog Maw.

Kog is my favourite here and after some tries, if you still want to play him in 5.24, this might be a good build for you (in order) item 3124 item 1001 item 3087 item 3006 item 3091 item 3139 item 3031
