Challenger/Diamonds in Gold/Silver/Bronze Games.

So when i play with my silver/gold/bronze friends we consistently get Diamonds and sometimes challengers. It takes all the fun out the game and its never a competition. Plain and simple our group should not be facing Elos this high. I keep hearing people say you can learn something from it, but really all you learn is how to lose (fast). There needs to be a new system. It's hard to have fun when my silver 5 friend is in the mid lane against a diamond 2 Akali. It's hard to see how a team with 2 golds and 3 silvers has the same MMR as a team with 2 diamonds 2 platinums and 1 gold. There is no arguing this is wrong on every level. Its simple a diamond will have more experience than a silver. They will know when to roam, power spikes, warding, utilizing advantages, etc. I just want to spread the word and see if more people get the same issue. Hopefully, this can reach Riot for a fix in season 5.

Welcome to Riot's "matchmaking" system. In which people duo with their lowbie friends, and said system throws its hands up and throws a bunch of low golds in because that's roughly where the diamond and unranked smurf equal out to.

Honestly though. I seriously enjoy this game more than any other game. But when i play normals i play with my friends and not all my friends are gold a couple are silvers and bronze, and they get placed in games where not one player on our team is platinum and all players on the other team are gold or higher. It literally makes no sense and it's not acceptable. I literally just got out of a game where GoldStars was on the other team when our team was entirely golds and silvers. And GoldStars is a CHALLENGER 1 player with 480 some lp. On what planet is this an acceptable matchup? Not one player on my team is plat, yet the other team LITERALLY has a challenger player. not to mention a plat and golds. Its pubstomp. Nothing more. Separate mmr systems for normals and ranked doesn't make any sense to me. This has been happening consistently with diamond players for far too long. This challenger player being in my game was kind of just a big fuck you to me and my friends.

honestly i play a lot of lol and its probably one of my most favorite games that i could play atm but when i q up with my friends as either a 2 3 or 4 man pre-pade and the highest person we have is gold we always not sometimes but always get put against diamonds and plats..... this is not okay and should not be aloud to happen. Now the way i look at this is me as a new player trying to climb the rank's and learn new champs i should not be faced with an adversary that i could never win against it is not called competitive play this was not fair this was not normal this was strictly me getting my ass kicked when he was not even in my lane. I thought there was an elo system and i thought it was good and used but once i found that there was a problem when this has consistently happened to me. The worst part of all is that i never get anything higher then a gold or the ocassinal plat on my team. Riot this is not fair and needs to stop i would hate to have to stop playing the game that i love because i fall out of love with the game.

Try playing Ranked 3s, then you can literally alternate between playing against the second highest rated challenger teams and gold/plat teams when you are Diamond.

I play ranked threes often actually. its random as hell. Ill get bronze teams running supports in lane instead of junglers and then all the sudden be playing against 2 plats and a gold. So wishy washy -_-

RANKED QUEUE ELO HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NORMAL ELO. Why don't you people get this? They're two completely different MMR systems. There is NOTHING that can be compared about these two elos. One is casual. One is ranked. Every mode has a different elo. TT has its own elo. ARAM has its own elo. the only 2 elos that are shared are normal draft and normal blind.

So you're asking riot to somehow use their ranked mmr in a normal match. Do you KNOW how long that queue would be? you wait 10+ minutes just to find a game above 2.5k mmr on a populated server

Can you imagine waiting like 20-30 just for a normal with some friends because you wanted to play together? The system banlances out the average mmr of every player in the room and finds an relative equal to that mmr.

This usually ends up being lop sided because ranked players don't play casual modes for "fun" we play ranked. If we want to play with others we group up as a 5 man and then play a non ranked mode to spend times with our friends.

How about you stop being a selfish gamer who only thinks about himself.

Because other people are better than you, you get to punish them with long queue times??(merry christmas heres, a 30 minute queue because your cousins want to play with you, merry christmas!)

Why don't you try being progressive/Proactive?

Want to know what a proactive player would say to him/herself?

I'll tell you because I'm nice enough to not just call you an asshat and then leave.

A proactive thinking player would want to better himself so HE could be the challenger tier player getting invited by his friends to play normals and HE could be the shot caller. He'd be the one with all the good warding spots as the support. He'd be the jungler would good map movement. He'd be mid lane shoving at level 4 then roaming bot for a dive with the jungler for a free fb/double kill.

Instead of thinking "oh poor me got stomped again" He'd think "hmmm lets watch this replay and see what they did and try to learn from it" Like a PROGRESSIVE PRO ACTIVE THINKER!

Try having a less defeatist oriented mindset when you go into any game and you'd be surprised who wants to help you out and teach you a thing or two.

Or just being an ass-hat and get treated like one. Honestly, only reason I even bothered giving you more than a troll reply is because its new years and I'm in a good mood because my girlfriend sent me a card from tokyo with nice things in it.

The only one acting like an asshat is you my friend. Regardless of any sort of queue time there is no excuse for 2 golds and 2 silvers and a bronze to be matched against 4 plats and a diamond. Absolutely none. Im not complaining about playing against higher elos. I personally enjoy competition. I'm complaining that when im queued with a bronze player the other team has a diamond. Literally they could find any player in gold elo or lower and it would be a balanced game. This sort of action doesnt change queue times from 2 minutes max to 20-30 minutes. Dont take the time to add things in your comment about "Im only being nice because..." when you didnt say one nice thing in your entire comment that was obviously meant to be demeaning.

I think this is a matter of over-compensation. The current matchmaking system is known to synthetically jack up your team's estimated strength if your team is pre-arranged. While familiarity with each other is a significant and proven advantage, its effects at lower ranks are far smaller than the average that the matchmaking system accounts for.

Diamond+ Unranked+Bronze+Gold+Silver= 5 Gold. Everyone knows what to do. Focus everyone that isnt diamond and gold. they should just bring the lower elo up to theirs instead of screwing up elo,that will show them how to carry.

Some people have morals. It completely ruins the fun for me to have an entire strat that is around killing an unranked player as many times as possible. No one learns how to carry by playing like this. The system should change cause this isn't fair to the higher elo player or the lower elo player.

Im the guy that all chats "dont attack me and i wont attack you". The "fun" i would have killing a level two when i'm level 11 is nonexistent compared to that warm fuzzy feeling when the enemy mid laner all chats back "ty so much"

I have a similar problem ...

I consider myself about a Bronze 1/Silver 5 level player. Group up in an ARAM with a Silver 4 (decayed from Gold), Gold 5, and Plat 2 (along with a smurf), and get an opposing team of 2 golds, a plat, and 2 diamonds.

Yeah, that's fair. I know I suck Rito, I don't need to be reminded while I am trying to have fun ...

Normals and ranked games have different ELOs. It only makes sense.

I guess they could make it so that for normal games the matchmaking system would use the ranked ELO instead of the normal one if the ranked is higher.

I never saw more than Gold in my games and the Gold was on my team. How can you encounter a Diamond player ? Maybe I don't play at the right hours.

I watch Youtube videos about Diamond/Platinum streaming their games. It's actually pretty fun and I think I learned about a thing or two by watching them. I know I would be honored to see them in-game but ... It would be so much difficult. I think It's better to learn by watching them. lol

Try playing Shyvana as a silver player vs a platinum Quinn top. It was hell, even after the jungler and I got two kills on her. I was stuck at tower all game, but Quinn never roamed. Unfortunately the rest of my team got rolled. Only upside was I got better at CSing vs a higher ranked and it wasn't ranked.

why do people complain about this stuff? its normals why does it matter whether you win or lose. A lot of my friends are silvers and I enjoy playing to just have fun thats why I play things like AP sion and stuff like that because I don't tryhard in normals because they don't mean anything. Rank shouldn't mean a thing, when I used to be a silver not once did I complain when the enemy team had a diamond or challenger player because it didn't matter I was there to have fun not to win.

Why do people complain about being matched against technically pro level players when they are trying to learn the game? hmmm. Maybe it has something to do with how silvers don't troll for fun in normals they are usually trying to learn new champions or practice a role they need practice on so they can be stronger players for ranked. Instead what happens is the other team has a diamond player and the enemy jungler knows his mid/top or whatever is a diamond player so he camps that lane so the diamond carries. I'm sure you are plenty capable of comprehending how frustrating getting camped is. Especially when after two deaths the diamond is fed enough that the only way he will throw his lead and not carry is if he gets super greedy, which really good players don't do. I get your view about trying to have fun, but at the end of the day this is a strategy game, and you cannot possibly have an excuse for a diamond being against all golds or lower in a game that revolves around strategy. Its not fair to the players plain and simple. My silver friends tilt easily. i have to lie to them about the elo of the player they are facing half my games with them just so they dont tilt before they start lane phase. I don't think it's acceptable personally.
