The ranking's broken.. right?

I'm sure this is the way it's always been, I'm fairly new to LoL, but does anyone else think it's kind of bull crap that prelims for a new season have anything at all to do with your last season? It makes sense to me to just be a blank slate so you have a chance to start over in the latter, but it seems that everyone basically just went down a few tiers. Granted, going 6-4 ain't so hot, especially since I was B2 last season, but to be knocked down all the way to B5? I think I deserve to be placed at least a little higher than someone who went, say, 3-7. Plus, with all the silvers that got knocked down to bronze and the people who never made it out of Bronze 5 last season, there's a ginormous skill gap in Bronze right now, and it's making it impossible to climb. Almost every single game is a blow out whether it's in my favor or not. I'm more than sure I'd be able to hang with silver, but when my team's not working together and just running around not listening, (which is most of the time) there's really nothing I can do. If the ranking system really worked then every game would be a good/close game because you'd actually have players of the same skill level facing each other, but with this inconsistency and huge skill gap in bronze right I fear I'll never be able to crawl out of this hell hole. fml.

You're placed where you deserve to be. I was placed bronze 3 and I made it to silver in two days. It's really easy.

I really do wonder. I have played placements on two accounts so far.

My Silver V account I went 6-4 and landed Bronze I. Pretty happy there. My SIlver IV account I went 9-1 and got... Bronze I.

I find that strange. Like... placements should matter more than they do.

The root cause of all this is that the highest you can get placed is platinum so all the diamond, master and challenger players get bumped down to platinum. This has a ripple effect that cause everyone else to get placed lower than they finished the previous season.

It's not a perfect system but I can't think of a better way that still gives high level players the challenge of climbing back up again. I'd try to look at from that kind of a perspective. You aren't being punished because of the system, you are being challenged to climb your way back up the rankings.

It doesn't even matter. Who actually cares about dynamic que rankings? It's just like Team Builder rankings. It's fun but it will never be a valid ranking system as long as someone playing solo and someone playing only 5s are on the same ladder despite having quite different skillsets. Player pools have to interact and have a consistent experience for a ranking system to be relevant. Thus, I suggest you revise your complaints for when we have true solo que.

Yes, it's bugged.
