How to beat Ahri vs Orianna?

Efreet··2 votes·3,379 views

I can't win this matchup at all. Everyone says to just harass her since I have more range. I hit my Q and W and the back end of her Q hits me for more than my Q W combo. At 6 she just ults me and dodges everything, every time I exhaust her, her W and R damage with autos do over 700 damage WHILE exhausted. It happens every game I have no idea where the damage is coming from. She misses charm and Q and I still get one shot. This has happened several times, they usually have a lost chapter and maybe another amp tome. Most Ahri's take no mr and very little scaling ap yet I still just get absolutely crushed post 6. Any tips?

You know, I was actually going to give you advice, then I saw that part about Ahri doing "over 700 damage while exhausted" and realized this is a troll.

Well played, HotshotGG, well played.

do you? I don't think you do. You have more harass but even with more range you have like no speed. Ahri will outpace you.

Orianna does not win against ahri. There is no "just" anything, that is just a generic thing to say to orianna players. Orianna can farm effectively against ahri and has enough range to keep ahri from walking up and sexy timing her every 10 seconds. This is all ori needs to perform later on.

Orianna is a very problematic champ for most opponents that go mid and ahri is a champ that tends to perform well against such champs and is picked specifically to counter such champs, by some team function if not the ability to simply kill them.

That said, the best way to learn would be to watch the matchup live.

I was wondering if Bjerg did a matchup like this, I watch him all the time. Thanks for links!

It's a complete skill matchup. You have the advantage, your range can zone her out , when she ults you, it is very very tricky, you have to exhaust her or use barrier or cleanse to ignore charm, however your route may be, you CANT expect a good ult off when she has any of her ult charges, she will just escape instantly and there goes that, what build path are you going?

Standard Morello Sorc, then i go abyssal but negatron doesn't matter I still get one shot usually. Then Ludens void, d-cap

What I like to do is get lost chapter on my first back, and rush abyssal, as much as you think it doesn't help, it does, but you have to remember her orb is true damage on the way back so you have to play close attention to it, it doesn't move too quickly so it isn't too difficult to sidestep it, don't hide in minions, its a free q, but also don't stay too far away from minions because she can flash charm orb foxfire.

But if you rush abyssal won't you do 0 damage?

Abyssal gives you cdr, mr, and ap plus a 10% damage amp. It is a great rush against a champ like ahri

It's a rough matchup. You can be aggressive and push her out of lane early, but after that you basically just have to stay back and farm. Don't worry if you're not putting pressure on her post 6: as long as you communicate with your team to stop her from roaming profitably, you'll outscale her super hard.

Stall until team fights. You will be more useful so long as your adc isn't stupid and runs out alone. If you want to ignore ahri and never fight her, then just safely farm with autos and grab far minions with your Q. If you notice ahri is bad, oh that's a different story. A low skill ahri is easy pickings. If she trades competently, don't mess with that crap and just wait until your carries need shields and the enemy team needs a shockwave up their butt.

EDIT: don't forget that if you give her no kills she will roam! Tell your team! Follow her safely through the jungle if you can!

EDIT 2: Don't forget you can take advantage of her cool downs. If she uses her Q to farm, treat her to a tasty QWauto combo to proc thunderlord's decree and back off before she can fight back. Utilizing a champion's moments of vulnerability is a good way to get past their advantages.

I'm not quite sure how that match up goes, but I tend to believe that Ahri has the upper hand here. As general advice though, if you are having trouble in any lane, it would be wise to just invest into some defensive item first, like Negatron Cloak to keep you safe from her all ins. Apart from that, you have a very strong late game, stronger than Ahri's, and you need to capitalize on that. Survive early laning phase, you can just farm from distance, always push the wave so that you take pressure off you. You can easily outpush Ahri after level 8 I believe. Buy MR so that you won't die, push the wave to neutralize the lane and you can outpace her in teamplay. Remember, you can probably never win a 1v1 against her, except if she messes up hard. She will probably dodge your shockwave, which is a big part of your 1v1.
