Where is league heading?

In early season 4 i started playing as a support main, and was met with great success throughout. My roles was given proper control of certain areas of the game, and if I played correctly i could usually win. Enter the new meta at the end of season 5,and the game feel much more slatted towards solo carrys in the top lane,or jungle. Far to many games have been decided by one player on champs like GP,vayne, ect. I find entering this new meta, that there is little to nothing for me to do as a support. I cannot peel for my ADC and even if i can,the real carry is almost always a bruiser. In this new meta I find myself rather than relying on my skill, simply praying for that one "god tier" player to be on my team.

Am I the only person who feels this way? Is there a tactic I am missing out on? What meaningful decisions do I have as support now? Is riot games moving away from a team based game and into a more HoN type of solo carry game?

The best way to play league now is to close it and open up Dota2. There are 6 champions that are CLEARLY stronger than the rest. Half the country now has lag issues. Champion select trolls are encouraged. AFKs will ruin your day. Why even continue?

You are pretty spot on about this. ADC's got gutted pretty hard and they added more elements into the game so "teamfights" will be drawn out for longer. Since ADC's take more time to ramp up now, as a support you won't be making as much of an impact anymore besides babysitting the ADC, warding, and making roam plays. This is what you did before, but now the carry isn't really coming from your lane as much.

While I personally dislike it as an ADC main, it is technically more "healthy" in terms of champion diversity mainly because it adds more "elements" into the game so you have more to play with. Also it helps not gate a particular role into only one thing, such as top lane only having bruisers/tanks.

The last two patches... I feel your pain.. I have won 2 games since patch 5.16 and currently on a 12 game losing streak. for most of my games my score is fine I just can't have any impact on the game without being a bruiser, a role I cannot play.

I played DotA2 and its just not fun, like its fun in this is a challenge I want to improve at it, but its more like work than it is fun. League is very much about fun. DotA2 is all about sitting around and farming because you mana pool is so limited and your items are so expensive (although bought in small parts). That is until one person steps slightly out of position then you have 0.6 of a second to fire off all 4 ablities and your 5 active items. D: it's ergh. the threat range is huge and the time you have to react to anything tiny.

The more concerning trend is probably the development of the game into a spectator sport that is more fun to watch, and less cerebral to play.

Less burst damage plus bruisers and juggernauts: teamfights are longer. That's for spectators. Item advantage means less than it ever has, a lot of power has moved onto champion kits. That keeps things tense. That's for spectators. Everything's a skillshot, and abilities on old champions that were never meant to be skillshots are becoming skillshots. This makes twitch reflex and fine motor control very important in the new League. That's for the pro scene... that's for flashy fights... that's for spectators.

My hope is that Riot is finally realizing that every teammate should be able to carry a game. This season has been so dominated by ADCs that LCS has basically turned into "which team can keep their ADC alive the longest." I like seeing top laners and junglers moving more into carry roles. I feel like the next step should be buffing supports and tanks to provide additional utility, zoning and peeling ability. I can understand why you are frustrated right now since they've been focusing on top laners and junglers but I think once they role out their complete plan the game will be much better for it (its going to take some time for them to do that though.)

The problem is how Riot specifically designed and maintains most Supports to be utterly garbage in almost all aspects of life.

It's not how others are being too strong that you can no longer peel properly, you're never meant to since the dawn of time because Riot said so.

EDIT: Riot dived into the "solo man" side of things a good while ago when they had decided that pro plays should be about 1 man pressing buttons very fast and the announcer shouting "LOOK AT DAT PLAY" non stop like an idiot.
