Now a curious question about MMR

So, I know that your MMR at the beginning of next season is connected to your MMR from the recent one. But is the MMR sample kept from earlier seasons? Like, I know that at the beginning of season 2019 my starting MMR will be affected by my MMR from season 2018. However, will my MMR from seasons 2017, 2016, etc. have any effect on either the starting MMR or, especially, the rate at which it will change with every victory/defeat?

The reason I ask is because I'm wondering whether I have some "weak past modifier" from seasons 2013, 2014, 2015 etc. that I should discard with smurfing... or these seasons are completely irrelevant now and I should not worry XD

Season 6 affects season 7; season 7 affects season 8; season 8 affects season 9. Why should season 7 have any influence in your season 9 MMR?

The only time I can see this being the case is if you don't play ranked for 1 entire season (eg returning players).

Imagine a flat number. Your number gets higher when you win and lower when you lose. At the start of a new season your number gets decreased slightly.

So that number constantly changes with every game you play.

...and that number is your MMR :D

So no, it doesn't affect your MMR AGAIN, it only affects you once by lowering that number a bit at the start of a new season ;)
