Wanna win? BAN SONA!

SinfullyIced··7 votes·1,272 views

There are lots of people in this game who only know SonaSona , and only play SonaSona .

And SonaSona is the only one. There are no other champion like this. There isn't anyone who knows only BlitzBlitzcrank and nothing else. There isn't anyone who knows only LucianLucian and nothing else. BAN SONA.

The Sona-only people I know, they DO NOT know any other champion. If you force them to play as another champion, they will have to READ the abilities of that champion FIRST, literally. And they do play in ranked. (They are GOLD, btw. I dunno if that counts as low elo)

Eliminating an enemy during just the banning phase. How good is that? Even if it doesn't happen always, it is nice enough for it to happen sometimes. :D

FREE WIN!

In low level? yea... it's true.. xD

then again... * Locks in Annie Support* Annie

My girl friend would say Annie is so much harder than Sona. She can only play Sona.

Iageri3 votes

Tell her that lulu is similar to sona. But with a few more perks. Hehe.

Polymorph op.

Man, that's low elo, though. There are a ton of Lucian mains higher up. Also, I have a feeling people who play Morgana usually main her.

SinfullyIced1 votes

At least someone who mains Lucian won't have to frantically read up on the abilities when they have to pick another champion to play.

DænariusKhølerin1 votes

Ah, that is true sir. Now I see your reasoning in a better light.

BlueBilberry3 votes

Ooh, look Annie main - it's the first "ban Sona" troll of the new patch. (Of course you are assuming that people will still want to play Sona after the latest nerf.)

BTW, now, where did I put that NamiNami ? :)

I personally saw two players who play in ranked and ONLY know how to play Sona . They can't play ANY other champions (I am not saying they can't play other champions well, I am saying they CANNOT play any other champions. Given any other champion, they do not even know the abilities. They don't know if an ability is attack or shield or heal or whatever. )

Oh, and btw, those two have a high win rate :)

One trick players usually do though. Sona isnt the only champ being one tricked for rank climbing.

SinfullyIced2 votes

If you one trick Morgana , for example, you usually do know a few other champions, although you might now know them very well.

Maybe in the deepest cracks of ranked, sure.

You mean GOLD rank. Because that's where my sona-only friends are.

Gold isn't even that good.

People could also just learn how to play against her and do better against sona players in general.

SinfullyIced1 votes

You could say that easily to any champion. Then why banning? Why not say to yourself "I am going to get really good" and pass on the bans?

If you have to ban one champ, be it Sona, because that gives you a much higher chance of crushing someone just in the champion select phase.

That is what I mean.

Sona x Rubick2 votes

actually, Thresh is becoming a champion i like to play when i'm supporting, and soon i'll try to learn Bard

but the most shit i ever saw, is when my mates ban sona, while i'm mid, and then complain about me being able to only play sona mid.

SinfullyIced1 votes

Thank you for being a live example, of Sona-only mid. Just what I needed. I have got friends who can only support with Sona, and they don't know what to do at all when Sona is banned.

See? When you happen to be mid and Sona gets banned, this puts you in an awkward situation.

Why ban when you can first pick her and trade her to your support?

SinfullyIced1 votes

Sure, that's good too. But when your support isn't Sona main?

Linna Excel1 votes

Yes, I guess it'd be good to ban her then. But she's really not that difficult to pick up for most elos so I don't see why most support players wouldn't have her.

On a more serious note...I think you might have hit on something.

Could it be that there are a lack of suitable support champions for those who are learning how to support? Check out these champions that are designated as primarily support by Riot: Janna Bard Lulu Braum Nami Zilean Taric Soraka Nunu Thresh TahmKench

Most of those support champions are either: expensive for starting players, have tricky game mechanics and/or require a high degree of practice before one can play them adequately. Even Nunu (the most affordable of that bunch) has a horrible game mechanic which a partnered ADC player would rage at. Perhaps, Taric would be the best of that lot for a starting support player - but once you recover from the cost, playing him really does make a support player feel like a fifth wheel. (The poor high cost heals combined with that run back from the respawn point after a recall/death is painful - yes, we get that you are truly outrageous, can you please get back to the far turret before we lose it?)

SinfullyIced1 votes

They are just lazy, usually. My friend is too lazy to learn or at least try any other supports. Sona is easy. People out there aren't as diligent as us discussion board goers.

Reminds me of one game I played (Prior to DQ)

The ADC was so Adamant about not laning with Karma, that he instalocked Leona, and demanded me to trade him an ADC of my choice.

Never even asked if I owned Leona, (at that time) I don't recall the match that much, but I don't think it went well.

There's one tricks out there for pretty much every champion. Semi-popular and reasonably viable champs like sona in particular, but theres plenty of teemo/morde/urgot whatever other less conventionally viable one tricks too, and they'll pretty much all poop on you since they know their champs so well.

Sona was recently super op, was hotfixed to be slightly less op, but is still a strong ban choice currently. Still, more nerfs coming and then she'll probably not be the best use of your bans after that.

edit: Oh and for your particular point, you're neglecting the possibility that the sona one-trick is on your own team.

SinfullyIced1 votes

It is not uncommon for someone who mains a champion to play that champion really well; it is uncommon to be unable to use any champion except one, and that only happens with (some) Sona players.

That, is the reason you want to ban Sona . Even if she gets nerfed, the reason to ban her still stands.

Oh and the support on your own team will indicate which champ he wants to use so you can see.

So uh, ban your teammate's Sona intent and ban Sona?

Have fun enjoying your free loss missed opportunity.

Just say "can I ban Sona?" before you are about to ban.

I wish people do that, they just blindly ban Sona when I have her obviously hovered. It's as if the pick intent no longer has a purpose.

I'm not mad honestly since I'm much more comfortable with Lulu, but it's still a missed opportunity nevertheless.

SinfullyIced1 votes

Yeah, and when you want to play Lulu, you can ban Sona just in case the other team has a support who only knows one champ. It will crush them easily.
