Before a buff he needs to no longer kill himself with guinsoo's, which should be a good item on him now IMO.
But when he stacks it he applies his own on-hit effects to himself.

Yea, I am a Yi player. I am only a silver. But even in silver, yi sucks too. Hope yi got buff on day.
IMO he needs a class update similar to kat, much harder champion but still does the same as the old champ. Give him more tools like alpha strike to dodge abilities as opposed to a heal that you only use as damage mitigation or for an auto reset. I read an idea on the boards where he could move while autoing for his passive, but he couldn't do it while running away because of obvious kiting problems. Something like that would be really cool for yi as I think you would agree that having something that does meditate's job but better would be very interesting.
I feel like it's the Zed syndrome. If he actually gets to be a good champion, everyone will ban him in fear and Riot will nerf him #TheTruthHurts

They won't because low ELO throws a hissy fit about his "zero counterplay" even though there is a ton of counterplay to him
