Support - Why Can't We Just Have a Primary and No Secondary Option?

So, if the game is going to force people INTO support, I'm assuming that's because few people want to actually play support. Or at least, it's because not enough people want to play support that the game can't make teams with it.

If that's the case, why don't they give support mains the option of having only-support options? The reason I ask is because I usually only get support but I accidentally forgot and was assigned bot instead. I was looking at the new champ rotation to see who I wanted to ban and BAM two supports. Was that dumb on my part? Yes, absolutely. I'm an idiot.

It's not like I would mind waiting longer. I don't mind waiting 3 minutes instead of the 30 seconds it takes to queue in. It takes longer for people's computers to load into the game than it does to get a queue to pop anyway

Supports get no love man. If we do our job properly and have 30+ assists, 0 deaths, we may get one honor per game. And people complain when they are forced into support as if the game has exiled them. So, wth? Just give Support the option to only-Support. What would be the problem?

Simple. Put mid in. You'll get support 99% of the time, and you can always trade mid off in low tier.

Don't forget the 0.0001% chance of getting autofilled top because of that 1% chance mid game.

Sure. A roughly 1:1000 chance of being autofilled to top/jungle after you get mid. Meaning a 1:100000 chance of getting filled. Meaning that, odds are, you will never be autofilled if you consistently put in support/mid as your choices.

Once upon a time I queue top/bot and got autofilled mid (in low gold/ silver elo no less). Good times.

When was this? For a while, top got more popular than mid, which may be why.

Twas not during that time. I know because it never happened again lol.

Because then you'll have every other role asking for the ability to queue as only their role. It's just fair.

yes no one likes to supp in low elo and in high elo. Lets see your the blame regardless what happened in the game for losing, adc will rage at you for what ever reason and blame u nonstop even though they 1v2 in lane and chased and u were in spawn point some how its your fault. yep 1 honor sounds about right if your lucky.

I'm guilty of this. But if you play it smart you can do well. Or just have two supports. Once the bot tower falls, yours or theirs, you can take turns pushing out the lane while you pick a lane and go camp the shit out of it. Who doesn't like their own personal guardian?

But I hit the point where I was playing support so much that I was forgetting how to do other lanes. I got into support cause I used to fill (it was a thing, everyone was expected to be able to play every lane, typically 2 champs per lane so you had options) and we'd all shout out what we wanted so I'd just fill what was left. So lately I've been playing legit fill and it's really not fill=support. You'll become a better support by having to learn other roles and what they need/want. You get a stronger grasp of the timings. You realize there are other items than Locket, Redemption, Knight's Vow ... It's crazy but they really do exist. There's this thing called a black cleaver. I've never built one before yesterday or the day before that, well not the version from season 4.

But I'd be against mono-laners. I truly miss the old culture where everyone had a basic understanding of all the roles.

Ok sure but why1 votes

"Why Can't We Just Have a Primary and No Secondary Option?" Putting support in as a secondary option does that for me just fine tbh

ALLLIVESMATTER. No, but seriously, I think it'd be interesting to have the option to pick a secondary role (or not) based on whether or not you're satisfied with queue timers.

Fun fact... i was honored by my whole team today when autofilled as supp. And most of time supp get the most honor in my games.

Support getting no honor is a legend.

No, they don't need a better treatment than other role.

But yeah, u should be able to choose only one role. A man jungler when he dosn't get his role is same as autofilled, same for adc...

why not but i would say u don´t really need it. In 100 games i queued up as support now i got my secondary role (jgl) twice.

Three reasons

  1. Support isn't actually the least popular role in high elo
  2. Sometimes even supports need to get autofilled to other roles because of the occasional shortage
  3. Support becomes popular when a new support champion comes out

I play fill as primary unless I feel like playing support/jungle/bottom primary and fill secondary, and it's only when I play top that I can imagine what autofilled players must feel like. The reality is I probably play top(even middle but I don't suck at middle) way less than other people get autofilled.

Even when I pick jungle as primary, I don't even get autofilled with it no matter how many games I play. I just don't get jungle often enough for that to happen. I blame it on the fact that Kayn is popular as a jungle and is the new champion.

I think it would make sense for fill primary to have a secondary, but if you choose to not have a secondary then it would be great if that meant that your allies would never be autofilled.

because if you abuse this item 3504 you deserve it(before they nerf it)

There was a time during the rakan/xayah release...

I set support primary/mid secondary and got mid so many times it threatened to autofill me to support.

Was kinda like...what in the actual fuck is happening?

That was the best league moment I've had in like 3 years. haha
