Devourer promotes single-minded and selfish play?

Many ranked games have I had struggles with people building Devourer thinking they need to just farm and farm. They chose cs over helping a lane or team-fighting, I understand it is a game and people can play it anyway they like. It just has come to the point where if i am the banner, I ban typical Devourer jungle just so i do not have them on my team. I like to play team coordinated game-play and maybe that is my problem (sad if it is, because this is a team game after all). Should I try to play more selfishly, I guess, is the question?
