So I was playing Galio and when shielding ANYONE wasn't receiving a heal from Athene's is this intentional or a Bug? or for some reason does "Galio place's a SHIELD on" not classify as a SHIELD

It's only a shield in name. From the wiki.... Some "shields" such as Leona Eclipse grant armor, magic resistance or damage reduction when activated, but as these don't give any "temporary health" they are not considered shields.

Also why Galio doesn't work with Windspeaker's Blessing.

His self-heal does, but self-heals dont give the armor and magic resist.

It's more of a buff rather than shield since it doesn't really block damage but reduce damage. Shields are meant to block damage, that's what classifies it as a shield

then why is it worded as "SHIELD" poor wording by Riot

Poor wording, granted, but it's kinda obvious it you take the time to think about it.

For instance, Athene's passive is capped at the original value of the heal/shield. So what value should be used with Galio shield for this cap?

Galio's shield is situational IF you are not attacked it in NULL therefore how can adding a small heal from Athene's not be viable? It would actually make him a competitive Champion agian especially with the new Mage Meta

That's not what I was saying.

If you have 100 stacks on Athenes, but your shield spell shields for only 50 points, Athene's only heal for 50 HP, not 100.

So how much should it heal for Gallio's shield?

Clearly Boosted1 votes

Although it is small any heal is a good heal it would go 50/60/70/80/90

You're obviously not understanding what I mean... I'll try one last time.

Athene's passive at most double your initial heal/shield value, but Galio's "shield" has NO value to double, because it doesn't give you a XXX-point shield, it just increases your Armor. So it cannot work with Athene's passive (unless you make a special case just for it and hardcode for how much it should heal -- probably not a good idea).

It could heal for the same amount as the initial heal you gain yourself when someone attacks an ally you shielded

DeathBurst1 votes

It could, but as I said, you'd need to make a special case just for this single spell and harcode it. Given that Gallio rework was confirmed recently, it's definitely not worth the extra work.

(And holy necro batman...)

Galio doesn't have a shield.

It buffs their defensive stats. For the purposes of Athenes, that isn't treated as a shield (for some reason).

Galio's "shield" acts more of an aura than an actual shield.
