Switching to unlocked camera after 3 years

Hello, I have been playing league for 3 years now using only locked screen. The best rank I ever had is platinum 4 and I still sucked badly. I realized how much of an advantage using unlocked camera gives you for every aspect of the game, but I cant seem to get used to it. I always lose my character and my mechanics went to 0 while using unlocked it feels like a different game when I use unlocked. can you guys give me some advice , what should I do? can I ever get used to it after 3 years of pure locked? I really love the game and I don't want to quit because of a bad habit.

Don't look at it like that partner, I found this thread to be hilarious because I feel the complete opposite. I've played unlocked camera for 5 years and have NEVER been able to use the locked camera mode, I don't even use the space-bar which locks the camera whilst in unlocked mode.

I would honestly say if you got to Plat with what you're doing, stick to it man. To some extent, the locked camera may have it's advantages as well, 1 being that you never lose sight of your champ which can help you in team fights. I have this issue every once in a blue moon when during a team fight, everyone splits and goes in all directions and I miss a follow up attack or an escape because I wasn't panning (I guess that's what you call it) properly while in the unlocked camera mode.

But anyway, to answer your question, you just need to leave the unlocked camera in a position that gives you the greatest field of view, and leave it there. So if I'm up top for example, the rest of the map and what's going on is completely irrelevant, so I leave the camera like diagonal to the river so that I can see both me and my opponent, as well as the bush and river. If my wave pushes towards my opponents tower, then I pan it once so that the waves are in the middle and both me and my opponent are visible as well as the river in the bottom. I don't know if any of that makes any sense at all playa, but I guess what I'm getting at is if you think you need to move the camera around in unlocked mode constantly, then you're definitely doing it wrong haha.

But to each their own, that's what makes the world go round.

I really appreciate your help,it made me believe I have got a chance getting the hang of it. I will try to position my camera as you said and move it as less as possible which I wasn't doing until now, and see where it gets me. thank you bro.

Started with unlocked for probably 6 months to a year (keeping in mind I didn't & often still don't play as consistently as many others), started dabbling with unlocked, then had to get used to using the Spacebar properly (knowing when to hold & when to let go), the struggle was real, but worth it I'd say.

Your accuracy (clicking exactly where you need to for say, ward hopping with Lee Sin) goes up in many ways I'd say with unlocked, there's also times where locked is better (locked by holding Spacebar that is).

All about that muscle memory (even changing 1 key around to a new bind can take at least a few games of getting used to). I still lose my cursor in group fights with a lot of special effects going on (did find a safe program [won't get me banned] to give me a custom mouse cursor in-game recently, seems to be working for me so far).
