It usually took me 30 minutes, but I was still pissed they were removing teambuilder in favor of FREAKING BLIND PICK. Teambuilder was still blind pick, the only difference was you could choose lanes and champions. I didn't care if I had to wait 30 minutes for a game, at least I got one where I could play what I wanted. Teambuilder made me happy. It also didn't penalize you for dodging a game you didn't like, meaning if people didn't like off meta they could leave, instead of cussing at you the entire game.
I don't really have a problem with blind pick because im fine with basically any role I get but I do miss teambuilder when u could just select a role and champ u wanted and just relax while you wait

For me, it wasn't so much the role, as it was the champion. In blind pick, there's no way I can guarantee the role I want, and even if I played said champion anyways, it wouldn't be in an accurate environment. But In Draft pick, that same champion could get banned, or picked by the enemy.
Team builder allowed me to practice whatever champion I wanted in a competitive environment. And yes, if it was off meta, you couldn't get penalized for it because everyone opted in. (Though are people really going to wait another 40 minutes because of an unusual support pick?) Before his Spirit Blade update, I actually used Shen as a support. (A pick that later showed in the LCS)

As a support main, I abused the hell out of that privilege. Literally the fastest way to get into game. Though if I recall correctly, Support wasn't the only in demand role. (Though still the main one)
Specifically, I recall it happening around season 5 when the Jungle first got reworked. And a lot of former Junglers felt alienated by the changes creating a vacuum. I wound up filling that vacuum using Teambuilder, and that's pretty much when I learned how to Jungle.
Team Builder had a lot of problems associated with it. Dynamic Queue does as well. Rather than iterate on Team Builder to make it more adequately functional, they shifted to Dynamic Queue.
Neither are perfect. TB forced you to choose your champion ahead of time, which meant you'd get really awkward and badly-done team compositions a lot of the time. You didn't have bans.
Dynamic, meanwhile — has autofill. It's mostly a symptom of how unenjoyable support is and how long queue times are if they don't force people into playing it. Unfortunately all that does is bring down the quality of matches with autofilled players, but right now Riot's more concerned with getting people into matches faster than getting them into matches they're likely to enjoy.
I personally wish they would have tried to fix TB instead of overhauling it with DQ, but it's too late now, I guess.
All I really want is to be able to chose roles and get, rather than not getting it because someone has a faster contection and types right away, or is just a jerk and locks in right away. It's just a mess soon as you get into the lobby
just instalock too and type "bring it on" in chat
yea its pretty sad that thet got rid of teambuilder and kept blind pick, garbage lolol
For the people complaining about blind, it's more so for new players than anything.

Thing is Teambuilder does Blind Pick's exact job, but better. It allows you to pick what you want to play and where you want to play it, whereas in Blind Pick, you are forced into a situation where you have to be lucky enough to type your role before everyone else wanting said role. It's still blind pick, the enemy team doesn't know what you're picking, you don't know what they're picking. The difference is you can make your own team however you want without sacrificing just to make it better than it would be otherwise if you want to.
It also takes 20 mins longer. New people don't care what role they get for the most part, they're gonna do whoever wherever. The 20mins longer would make them not want to play.

It took 20 minutes longer like 2 or so years ago for many different reasons. One BIG reason was because blind pick existed alongside Teambuilder. People played blind pick back then a lot BECAUSE teambuilder took so long BECAUSE blind pick was one of the things that existed. It was a cycle, ya get it? People were split up into all different kinds of games. Now there's blind pick, normal draft, ranked draft, ranked flex, 3v3, 3v3 flex, beginner bots, and intermediate bots. Similar amount of modes, minus teambuilder and Dominion. If you replaced teambuilder with blind pick, all of the people playing blind pick would be put into teambuilder, giving it many more people than we previously had and making it easier to find a game. Another reason it took so long is because a lot of people didn't wanna see stuff like Darius ADC and the other things that people locked in that were off meta. If new people want to play just to play then they likely will accept those types of off meta picks to shave off even more time. People also didn't like to jungle back then at all. I'd say we have a lot more junglers now.
No actually you're forgetting one small detail.
Blind basically makes someone go support. No one is going to want to support in low elos/pre30 if they don't have to.
I honestly could care less. I don't play blind and wouldn't play team builder. It was a fun concept when it came out but its far inferior to what we have now imo.

Every time I've played blind I have yet to see someone NOT pick support intentionally(since I haven't seen anyone complaining about it)
Well than idk why we need auto fill cause we obviously don't need it since you always see someone pick support.
We both know that very problem would give TB higher queue times, new players wouldn't enjoy that while we don't necessarily mind

New players need to learn how to play every role, team builder discourages this.

If they need to learn to play every role so badly then I suppose blind pick should force people into random positions, like a pseudo permanent autofill because as it stands now whoever has the worst internet connection would likely be playing this role.

blind pick and draft are different things. People who play Draft more than likely have more experience of the game than people who play blind pick, and support isn't the only thing people are autofilled into. I've been autofilled into jungle, ADC, support, and one time when I didn't pick mid as my secondary, mid. Autofill is little more than a glorified RNG system considering it actually places people who PUT a role as their secondary, into their primary and then someone else who didn't queue for that person's secondary into that position often enough. Now does that make sense for a system that's supposed to be filling holes in teams where people didn't put a position that was needed?
And dynamic que was fine too but nothing isn't fine
What exactly is a "petion"
