Forced Secondary Role

I'm not sure if this has been brought up on the Boards before, but plain and simple, why force players to have a secondary role?

I know recently I just read something from Riot stating they were crunching numbers and thinking about removing a secondary role, but this really needs to happen.

Riot claims League is a competitive team sport, which, case and point, very well is. Hear me out though. Would you make a Quarterback in professional football play Running Back? How about a Pitcher in Baseball? Would you make him play Right Field?

This game is about working together as a team, and i'm tired of getting games where people are either 1.) Dodging to avoid the secondary role they didn't want or 2.) Shotgunning it and saying something like "My bad guys, don't usually ADC but I didn't get jung, so they devastate the team."

How about another concern. Having Support as a secondary role almost guarantees it as your primary role. Why not just stop the nonsense and allow players to focus on their main role? It'l make for better players (hopefully) and better teamwork.

TLDR : Get rid of Secondary Roles. It's a waste of time. Professional players don't randomly get forced into a secondary role during a Championship match. Give us Solo Players the chance to focus on the role we want to play. We need to Practice how we play.

  1. If someone wants to wait even longer in Queue for one role, I would say they should be able too.

  2. The old system never guaranteed you got the role you wanted either. If you were first pick, you had choice of all 5 roles. As with the old system however, players should feel free to talk amongst themselves to see if any are willing to trade roles/determine roles.

If they gave us a heads up on the role that we would receive before choosing whether or not to enter the pick an ban phase/ continue to wait for the primary role or letting us pick one role. I think having the choice to either pick two roles or one would make it a better experience vs 2 roles or fill, especially for people who main 1 role.

Well as far as sports it is not uncommon for players to play multiple positions.

Kordell Stewart - played QB, WR and he even kicked a FG.

Rick Ankiel - Was a pitcher....moved to outfield and could hit home runs.

If a manager wants to bring in a relief pitcher but doesn't want the starting pitcher out the game they can move them to another position, let the relief pitch his man, then remove the relief and put the starting pitcher back.

There have even been a few cases in baseball where a player has played all positions in 1 game.

But like I said thats just as far as you bringing up sports.........as far as the Secondary roles in LoL....it is needed. Can you imagine how long your game que could be without it? Hell the other day i had a 7 min game que time when i only had FILL selected.

And besides. You are guaranteed one of your 2 choices. Playing your 2nd favorite role shouldnt be that bad.

I agree with having support as secondary does give you support role more often but that is only because the majority of the people that play this game are glory hogs and dont want to play support at all. When in most cases having a good support plays just as much into the outcome as any other role.

So since you are willing to play support as your secondary role the system can find you a game quicker by putting you with a team that needs the spport role filled.

EDIT: Also though you did not say it i have seen a lot of people claim that they get their secondary role %80 of the time....but im just not seeing this. And if someone is using that they got their secondary role as a excuse for them doing bad then maybe they should try learning other roles. Like for me....ADC is my worst role.....so other than sometimes queing FILL.....i would never have it as my primary or secondary role.

As support secondary, i was getting it 96,15 % of times. I had to quit the role if I wanted to be able to play at least half of the time my favorite lane and champions. Now i put mid/top or mid/jung and really suck at both top and jung :c ( I try to swap with the mid or with the support when it is possible, but often they will just keep their lane oc ). Meanwhile queues are getting longer everyday, something needs to be done! ( and i want to get back to play even support without have to start hating it after 2 days )

I get my primary 80% of the time.

And you really don't enjoy any other rile besides one?

I doubt it. All lanes are similar to so.e degree anyways.
