I won 9 out of 10 placements.... was placed in silver 4 was gold 1 last season what is this, riot seriously. That's pretty beat riot, back to not playing anymore.

yeah, because in every other game/sports/anything "new season" means you will start from the same spot you were last year.

It's a matter of proportions: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Plat, Dia, Master and Challenger.

If the reset is hard then winning more than half should place you to either G1 or in some of Plat since all players start form 0 and Plat is right in between of divisions.

If the reset is soft it should mean that winning 60%+ of your placements gets you to where you started (because soft reset means you meet stronger ppl compared to Bronze etc since you started in G1).

In each way you look at it it's wrong.

I'm only throwing a comment in here to just say I do slightly agree that the placement system is a little flawed. I only started playing LoL last September but when I got place for last season I was placed silver 2. Needless to say everyone at that rank outclassed me and it was no longer fun to play so I had to wait for a new season. I was definitely not Silver 2 and I think its a little messed that the computer thought I was, Whereas my friend who's played for years was only silver 4 and he slaughters me. Didnt really make sense and I agree the system could use some work.

This is really old news and you'll probably get 30 LP per win and jump tiers if you win a decent amount.

Pretty sure if I checked the OP's Ranked Stats from last season, he/she would have a negative win rate.

you have to win your first 5 game otherwise you're screwed espcially the first one

I actually won the first 7 I played then lost the 8th one then won the next two.

I only won 3/7 and was in Gold 2 last season, got placed in Silver 5, but hey I'm almost back in Gold 3 so I'm not complaining T.T

Cheers, mate. The exact same thing happened to me (3/7, Gold 2 to Silver 5). I'm climbing at leaps and bounds, also, so it's nothing bad. Silver elo is fairly simple; just ward and win with rotations. It's funny because people keep adding me saying that games with me have a lower number of kills. WELL, that's what happens when you know what's going on at all times. D:
