Why are people complaining so much about the new sion?

I don't understand it, everyone is like why did you "nerf" sion. Did any of you play the previous sion. He was the god of trash tier. ap sion was early game nightmare that turned into utter trash late game, and ad sion was a huge joke. It was only a bronze adventure to aa your way to victory against people who just don't kite you. It was utterly bad as well. Now sion has good engage, meaningfull cc, a much better shield. Jungles decently. Overall hes much stronger. He lost some health, but his shield is so much better. Get a grip people, just because you haven't figured out his optimal build yet, or had the time to become good with him, is NOT a reason to say something so ludicrous, so insane, so depraved, so immature, so unbelievably stupid, that the old sion is better, and this was a nerf.

The current Sion sucks as a melee ad carry which is what a lot of people remember Sion for. Right now I've only seen boring full tank Sion builds work decently. The intentional clunkiness of his Q, difficulty of using his E and Ult properly, and unreliable passive don't make him much fun to play.

I think the new Sion is sort of interesting, but he doesn't play like how I expect Sion to play.

I played him. He was pretty good. The only problem was he was weak in lane which made him unreliable at getting to his super late game.

It doesn't matter whether a champion is "well designed", all that matters is whether he is "viable".

From a VERY pissed Sion main. I've said this in a few other places, but I'll repeat it here.

Sion's Q should have just become a skill shot. Let me launch a shockwave at my opponent that stuns them with my blade. IE: The Q should become a shout that stuns/fears the opponent.

W and E are pretty awesome. I'd change E so he punts a minion now, because that just looks awesome.

R... oh R... The ultimate is ruined. It's the wrong part of his lore/theme to focus on. Why do I want a champion who can march through minions (That's what they're suggesting this ties to) when I used to have a champion who could outduel Jarvan's guards and keep fighting?

The Passive is the biggest wreck in his kit though. Give me something that actually feels useful when I'm playing well. I don't need to have an already undead champion revive when he dies. I need him to really feel terrifying in game. I need him to feel unstoppable. I NEED him to have built in tenacity so he isn't a giant walking bullseye for every Morgana or Veigar or other CC champ in the game.

Sion feels like a neutered dog now... he no longer has his source of pride--his endless will to fight and win.
