Malzahar Rework Needed~

Dreamland412··7 votes·3,423 views

When I first started playing League earlier this year I went through a bunch of champions and ended up trying malzahar and loved playing his easy kit and strong ulti. Then I got him to mastery 7 and stopped playing him completely. The main reason I stopped using him was because of how dry it feels to play as him. Also he's really Ultimate reliant and doesn't have that carry potential like a bunch of other midlaners I've played. I hear a bunch of people talk about pre rework Malz and honestly if they changed his passive to summoning a voidling per spellcast that last like 5 seconds or something, changed his W to a shield with some mobility attached , and his ult to just the void pool that grounds enemy's + %Hp dmg( got that beautiful idea from an old thread) I feel like he would be so much more fun and playable all around. Thoughts?

Way too much of his power budget is tied up in his passive and ult. His passive in particular has literally no good reason to exist, aside from giving him a modicum of safety while channeling his ult. IMO his ult SHOULD have the downside of being easily interruptable just because of how strong the effect is. But for some reason Riot doesn't like champions having meaningful weaknesses anymore, so they gave him an invulnerability passive to facilitate ult usage. With these two abilities being as strong as they are, his other abilities have to be kept weak, which is absolutely the wrong way to balance him. His current W is worthless for everything except waveclear. His E damage is pathetic and barely noticable, but so are all DOT abilities. His Q is marginally better, but even its damage seems weak, and that's saying something in a meta where EVERYONE has massive damage. Malz definitely needs a rework. Replace his passive with something that doesn't eat up a ton of his power budget, buff his ult damage, and make his W minions actually useful.

They also need to fix whatever it is that causes a minion afflicted with Visions to disengage, run to the back of the minion line, and therefore not die and thus not spread Visions.

He was part of the group reworks they tried out a while back that failed miserably. Nearly every champion that was reworked back then was a huge problem in one way or another and eventually all got changed. Malzahar was sort of nerfed so he wasn't so oppressive then left alone because he was "balanced", nevermind they completely destroyed his identity and turned him into one of the most boring champions in the game.

He needs another rework or to be reverted back to Old Malz and then changed from there. His passive is cancer and being able to spawn voidlings at will takes any strategy out of his kit. His ult is just a shell of its former glory (although it was frustrating to be on the other end of it admittedly) and his E is basically the same but slightly worse.

old malz was perfect. they dont need to change anything in his old kit. maybe voidlings AL

I came back to this mess of a champion, I miss his puddle of doom, why did they put it on his ult? I want that zone denial utility it brought.

you say that they already changed him plenty.... but then we have Ryze....

also Riot has actively tried to open up more roles and builds for champions recently (AP Gragas/Malphite, Jungle Morg/Zyra/Urgot, the soon to be added AD Support Item next preseason, Pantheon kept his AP Ratios), so unlike before they might be fine with bringing back AD Jungle Malz

I only ever saw them when youtubers decided to check out these changes on the first week or two, it was (and still is) rare, but it exists
