What does it mean to fall off lategame?

I though i understood but apparently i don't. 4 of the most well known fall off lategame champs are Renekton Pantheon Shaco LeeSin .I thought it meant that lategame they might not be able to 100-0 a squishy or even get to the squishy.

Renekton - does insane dmg early game but lategame the adc will survive and then lifesteal back up while killing him.

Pantheon - might still be able to 100-0 a squishy but how does he get on to them?. Ult has a long cooldown and the range on W is short.Plus most adcs either have cc or mobility. In Sivir case she has spellshield.

Shaco and LeeSin are what confused me. Lategame they can be played just like other assassins. Just wait for the teamfight to start and go in for the kill when it seems safe. Shaco has a blink and invis while lee just has to hit a skillshot and both of them can easily 100-0 a squishy. So what causes them to be considered to fall off?

This isn't a QQ thread. I'm just asking for some clarification.

EDIT: Thanks for the responses

It doesn't hinge on a specific kind of champion; it refers to their effectiveness. When a champion 'falls off late game', it means they loose effectiveness over time; which can be from several reasons, anything from; enemies building counter items, grouping up, poor scaling, enemy tactics changing, ext.

For a more specific example from what you looking at; let's examine shaco, an assassin that's actually high risk high reward. He can engage or escape but rarely can do both unless both he & his target mess up; he relies entirely on positioning, picking off someone that's separated or otherwise easy to reach without being in significant danger. He has low base values but high scaling damage, so if he wants to kill anyone he has to build offensively, leaving him fragile; conversely if he tries to build tank then he is merely an annoyance to the enemy team but can't get much done. His power is primarily in the early game when all of his enemies are spread out and before they can back eachother up, and before wards become abundant; this allows him to setup an enemy for a surprise attack fairly easily. However as the game goes on, people start sticking together and warding more frequently; inadvertently preventing him the capacity to sneak up on a target, ontop of denying him the ability to solo someone. Therefore shaco falls off late game due to enemy tactics changing; it's most noticeable in higher matches where they try to snowball hard & fast to win the game, before the enemies can get any momentum but more importantly before they realize what's going on.

Champions mostly fall off in terms of itemization.

if you build damage lategame on lee sin, you can 1shot squishies, but you can no longer reliably get to somebody in a teamfight, let alone get out of the fight, thus you need defensive items. Their frontline is never going to let you hit a Q on their ADC, and their squishies will be far back out of your range. If you expose yourself to try and make a play, you might just get picked off and 1shot because you have no defense.

If you build full tank, you will only be absorbing damage, but without good CC like sejuani, you aren't that usefull compared to CC tanks. And you might just get ignored because ADCs out lifesteal your damage at this point.

thus leading to a situation where these champions will buy AD early to make plays, and defense later to tank some damage. but they won't have enough damage to really hurt, and they won't have enough defense to tank the ADC/APC.

it's the melee champions that want to get into the fight that have these problems, there's no need for a ranged champions to build a mix of offense and defense because they can just kite back forever.

Part of the problem is also int he champions kit: they have no late game scaling steroid, like master yi AS on ult and true damage scaling.

Shacos usually build extremely squishy, so it makes them very easy to kill in a teamfight. Not to mention his Q is his only escape, and he's using it to get on your carry.

Falling off lategame -

Team A is rushing damage

Team B is rushing defense

Team A is getting more farm because damage does that and then they are dealing more damage than Team B could possibly defend against. All team B can do is stall the game out for now.

Later in the game Team B finally gets so much defense that team A can't kill them fast enough which makes it hard for any one champ to do much

Team A has fallen off

Falling off lategame -

Fizz gets fed, or doesn't, and gets an item that gives a lot of flat damage

fizz can do 2000 damage at level 6, impressive yes? probably not true but lets go with that

fizz deletes champs left and right if they challenge him but what happens when the average champ now has 2500 hp on the enemy team?

Fizz can no longer guarantee deletion and endangers himself more everytime he goes in

fizz has fallen off

Falling off lategame -

ashe deals 100 damage per second, swain heals 200 per second, ashe cannot kill swain and swain can force her out of fights meaning you wont be able to win some teamfights when he shows up

ashe now deals 1000 damage per second, swain heals 400 per second, ashe can in fact kill swain and force swain to stop using his ashe chasing tactics to win. Swain has fallen off
