I Need Help Climbing

So I am a relatively new player to League of Legends, and have played ranked for about 2-3 months at most(I think). Now I know I am not good and there is plenty of room for improvement because first of all I am a Bronze 1 player and understand the deficiency of my skill relative to the majority of the player base. I have 1v1ed my Plat4 and Diamond2 friends respectively and totally get that I don't belong in those elo brackets. However, it has been a consistent pattern in my ranked games that I get ahead during the early stages of the game and end up losing the entire game regardless of the lead I had. For example, my recent Ahri loss entailed me getting a massive gold lead(around 3k-4k) and using that in order to roam and apply pressure on the map. The tables turned when the master yi and the irelia on the enemy team scaled and we emded up losing. So what I want to know is how to effectively use a lead to my advantage and how to position myself in order to maximize damage during a skirmish or team fight. If you have comments outside of those criteria feel free to say it.

  1. Don't play Ryze. He requires a really good ping and is overall a really bad pick, unless he is either flexed or first pick.
  2. Don't play more than 4 champions in rank, for now. You have 15 champions in ranked, calm down and learn a few.
  3. Watch the map. Install a timer beside you at the start of the game. Every 10 seconds, it needs to do a sound and at that moment, you will look at the map.
  4. Play braindead champs. Your Annie and Lux are your best tools to understand the game. If you play picks like Zed, you will need to focus too much on your cooldowns and kills that you won't notice the big picture. Those "I am so good" picks will only prevent you from seeing the ecosystem that is Summoner's Rift. Also, those champions' build paths and rune paths.
  5. Learn when to fight. A massive mistake for players in lower elos. Do not fight unless you are ahead, or need to get ahead at this precise moment. If you are too far behind, setup a pick with vision or get into an uneven fight against the enemy.
  6. Watch some youtube videos. Multiple youtube channels, such as ProGuides and SkilledCap, will teach you how to manage a lane, cs, roam and all those things. Don't watch those youtubers who say that a new build is OP, it's just clickbait.
  7. Play a lot of normal. The normal game's average elo is around mid silver, so you can face better opponent and try to learn things from them.
  8. Mute all conversations from the enemy team and any toxic player on your team. The enemy will never say anything good for you to hear and your own team will most likely tilt you. Make the calls for your team before your team makes them for you.

Thanks man. All of your points were helpful, but particularly numbers 3 and 4 really hit the spot. I do sometimes just get focused on the "outplays" rather than the entire game itself. Would a new champion pool of Lux, Ahri, Annie, and Corki be good? (Holding off Zed and Syndra and completely removing Ryze).

I personally don't like Ahri. I would replace her with Talon. This opinion is completely biased, tho. I also personally hate Corki, but I can't think of a realistic pick to replace him. But yeah, these picks should help you learn slowly the game.
