This guy is a crit, armor shredding machine. He was bad before the buff but I agree he needed a little love. He got way to much love. In lane he can be handled for a min or two but he snowballs way to fast and out of control I find it hard to even counter him anymore as one small mistake early leads to your death.

SSJTribe1 votesWhy are you replying to a 5 month old comment... Anyway, yes. He doesn't have any CC or dashes or anything like that, his movement is very predictable. Any CC harder than a slow will hamper him greatly, or even a slow itself is ok if he's used his Q already.

There are extenuating circumstances sure, like if he flashes onto you and silences you before you can react. But in general yes, you can keep him off of you or your carry easily.

he doesnt scale well into the late game though. the more coordinated your team is the more useless he becomes. and you either need a second engage tank or catch them on a mistake. i mean what happens when a katarina catches you when you are out of position you die, if garen catches you out of position usually you die also.
personally i would have prefered if garen got a buff to his resist stacking on W that would have fitted him better imo but Riot likes their damage numbers i guess.
the only difference with garen and riven is that garen can be kited.

youre 1 tricking kayle. a lategame hyper scaling champion whos only capable of beating a hand full of melee champions early game, one of them coincidentally being garen. you should be the last person to complain about him.

The only thing Kayle has going for her in this match up is that Garen cannot zone her off farm like a lot of other top laners.

Trying to abuse him only results in Kayle going oom very very quickly. Garen is also surprisingly tanky, even with no items. Finally, his passive makes sure what little damage you do never sticks. if you cant beat a garen in lane on kayle, youre doing something severely wrong.
FioraWillCarry1 votesSmart Garens would Q at you whenever you try to bully him and this is where mana becomes an issue. As Kayle, you can either W for movespeed to kite back or Q him for the slow, either of which results in Kayle going oom very soon if done a couple of times. Also, like 70% of Garen players are fond of sitting in the lane bushes waiting to ambush you with their Q+E which rewards them with massive damage. This can be pretty hard to counter if they do it right.
Perhaps with something like Glacial Augment, she might be able to bully him. Other than that, I don't see it.
Another way is to rush Nashor's first item, with no boots or tier 1 boots. If he goes for a Cleaver cleaver start(Phage, Kindle etc) or any damage item, Kayle can soundly defeat him in lane. However, all he has to do is build Cowl. Some Garens even start Spirit Visage. These purchases shut that shit down very quickly.
Another problem with the match up less related to laning is his roam potential. He is far more likely to get something out of a roam than Kayle is in the early game due to how low her damage is compared to his, especially after level 6. Kayle's ultimate is kitchen appliance, his is a nuke.
