Ekko not quite good enough

Thought about playing a new Champ to Level 5 and choose Ekko I played two Games against Gragas and Vel'koz Lost Lane in both Games

Velkoz Against Vel' koz i just got outranged and poked to death under Tower and got outtraded when i jumped on him.

Gragas Against Gragas.. well he was meele aswell but just a tanky Beast despite having a lot of ap. Also i was never really able to hit the full Q Combo with risking a Jump on him because he always just walked out of it.

After all i still did enjoy playing Ekko but was a bit sad after two lost Games so here i am looking for Advice or someone that tells me meta just isnt ready for Ekko to be played in midlane.item 3070 Ekko item 3070

Suttikus item 3025

What is your build?

Ekko is in my eyes, a light fighter. You should aim to be moving in and out of a fight, only going back in when your Q and E get back up from their relatively short Cooldowns. One very simple and effective combo is to E onto the enemy champion, throw out Q, auto attack to proc passive and then run away. They usually wont be able to trade back due to the Movement Speed differential and you can hit the second Q easier since they're slow.

Im always going for Morello first and then something like zhonyas or lich bane/ludens echo depends how laning went

So, I recently picked up Ekko myself, and I think he's actually pretty damn great.

One thing I like about him is that I can roam easily with him and almost guarantee a kill. His laning isn't too bad either, one Q through the wave and an auto attack kills pretty much any minion. He's quite difficult to gank as well.
