ryze nerfs???

kinda confused as to why these nerfs are taking place. yes i know riot is barely touching his dmg output but still this seems unmerited to me. yea sure hes dominating the picks and bans in worlds but something to take notes is that no one is "baiting" the pick. during worlds the casters talked about how SSW was allowing Zed to be picked because they understand how to counter him. that being said they did this with 2 opponents who both mid laners main zed, and every team but SSW would either pick or ban it from them. so all of a sudden you see Zed not being picked against SSW, now that pretty much communicates that Zed is counterable and doesnt need a nerf. while ryze is just simply not being played against with either counters or picks. now i understand that worlds has alot of influence but i feel like this is just kinda a nerf to say, "ryze isnt the best top laner see...."

Remember Ryze's last buff, they said he wasn't in a league with those he competes with. Why wouldn't they just revert that buff instead of nerfing his lategame so hard is beyond my understanding. Ryze's lategame isn't a problem, it's his lane bullying.

In general Ryze has no "hard" counters and scales incredibly well. He basically becomes an ADC who does all magic damage and is tanky, so gutting his W and E seem fair. I dislike it because it removes a lot of what I saw as his "identity" as a mana champion (who scales off mana), but I feel he needs the damage nerfs. His W is incredibly strong as it chunks super hard and roots as well, so they chose to keep the CC and gut the damage, as right now its mainly used more as a catching tool on priority targets then an actual nuke. The E nerf is "okay" as I don't believe it had mana scaling before, it got added in eventually as a buff, but it still functions the same as a MR shred so its fine. I'm guessing their goal is to force players to optimize their damage by prioritizing Q on who they want to kill.

All they need to do is either nerf Ryze Q range back to 600 or make his base movement a little less. Ryze has two big weakness. The first is if he falls the slightest bit behind early game, which he usually does for being a late game champ, he is an easy target to kill since he has no true escape. The second is if the enemy team can either kill him before he can get in or cc him when he does get in. You got to keep in mind Ryze's one true strength is getting in the middle of the fight and spamming his AoE abilities on an entire team.

I feel with the mana scaling nerfs Ryze would just lose all laning phases and lose all his 1v1 pressure. If this were to happen, Ryze would have no way of escaping fights brought onto him. At least as of now he has damage to scare off enemies.

I feel like they just need to reduce his base damages so he doesn't have the megapoke toplane capabilities as much.

He's just in a bad spot right now, as he was before the change. However the changes that Riot are instilling are SIMPLY because he did well in the LCS a few times. I play Ryze, but dislike the spot that he is in now. I'm honestly not sure what direction he should be pushed towards, but am open to discussion.
