AFK Ranked Matches

I wish you guys would due something for the people who lose a ranked match due to an AFK, we still lose full LP, which is not really fair. I realize its a team game, but a 4v5 team game is a bit ridiculous in ranked. I could see maybe like a flat 5LP loss, and the winning team still gets full LP.

The only mechanics needed to be added to that is if it's part of your party/premade you still get full LP loss, and that telling someone to go AFK is added to the zero-tolerance list. Also, they'd have to be AFK for a certain amount of time (5+ minutes, probably).

Reasons: 1 is to stop abuse from premades. Otherwise they could just have someone AFK and salvage LP for the others. 2 is to prevent bullying of other players into going AFK. 3 is to stop it from kicking in if they AFK just before the game ends.

My only other worry is that this might cause people to go to actual inting, which is harder to detect than an AFK (because just having a high number of deaths doesn't mean you're inting, but AFK can much more easily be judged by score).

Yes, this is badly needed. I just lost a game where our jungler connected to the game but never budged from fountain. The enemy jungler quickly figured this out and had a field day taking both jungles with impunity, then having an extremely easy time ganking due to how fed she was.

They won't. It's a team game, and just with any team game, you win or lose as a team.

Even if it hurts losing LP when an ally disconnects, remember that you've also won a larger proportion of games from enemy AFKs and disconnects. Assuming you don’t have any connection issues or bugs, the likelihood of having an afk/disconnect on your team is (proportion of players experiencing connection issues) multiplied by four (for every player on your team excluding you) The likelihood of having an afk/disconnect on the enemy team is (proportion of players experiencing disconnection issues) multiplied by 5.

In other words, if you take into account every game you’ve had with league, every 4 games you have an afk/disconnect on your team, you have had 5 victories owed to disconnects/afks on enemy teams.

So even though it sucks to have an AFK on your team in the moment, you've won a good amount of games because of them too without knowing it. So I'd take it in stride

Also, given the nature that everyone experiences an occasional AFK on their team, buffering the LP loss in any way only serves to inflate LP across all players. So you're really not getting anything out of it.
