Attention those in California (Server Move Question)

Am I the only person whom since the server move has experienced server ping spiking issues? I used to be at a constant 27-31 ping and now I constant 70-75 ping with a consistent spike of 200-300 ping every other game or so. I would like to know if I am the only one experiencing this or are there others?

Hey glad you are calling this out. Can you go ahead and make sure our support team gets logs from you the next time that happens? We are still continuing to optimize routes for Chicago and there may be a poorly pathed route here that you are experiencing.

The more info we can get, the better we will be able to correct issues like this for you and other players

That ping is considered "normal" now due to the move. i used to get ~35 ping, its now 80 flat. i'm in norcal.

From what ive seen and heard most of the people on the west coast are completely unhappy with the server move. personally i think splitting the player base between west and east coast, therefor making two separate servers, would have been fine. queue times would have been slightly longer but the ping wouldn't have moved and riots servers wouldn't be overloaded 24/7.

I don't know about california, but even on the east cost we get high spikes. Even if I get ~40 ping now, it sometimes spike to 200-300 and from what I've seen on boards a lot of player are experiencing this. The new server are far from being stable....

honestly it could be Riot's servers are not powerful enough or it could also be the american infrastructure which is frankly pitiful. you can get a better broadband in italy than in most parts of USA, and it's not like italy is a technologically leading country.

Yeaa my Ping is California is a solid 75. (Southern california around the los angeles area.). In British Columbia Canada it's much better, sitting at about 50

I was at a constant 40. Now it usually stays at 90 but majority of the time, it is 150+ and then i get a few 2k here and there and this is in S.F. They need to fix this.

I've been experiencing ping spikes

I'm in Vegas and my ping went up from 40-50 to 50-60. However, my lag spikes have actually gone down now. I rarely see them anymore.

So after reading through all of these, I am noticing a pattern here. All of northern california are now experiencing these spikes in ping during game not just myself. Thank you.

I'm in Arizona, but yes. My average ping is now 20-50 higher and not only myself, but all my friends are getting random spikes into the hundreds and sometimes 6k+ ping. This in addition to disconnects both in-game as well as on the client.

I'm in southern California (San Diego county), and lately I've been getting spikes and packet loss. My hunch is that it has something to do with my router overheating because this weather has been insane, but maybe it's worth sending in logs and getting it checked out.

I was last night badly, but that was the first time in a while, even after the move.

I played a bot game today and didn't experience anything so I cant say much now.

It happens to me every game.

(Cupertino) Weird, my ping is generally lower after the move. :o

Krinu9/12/2015, 4:55:27 AM1 votes

Menlo Park, CA here. I'm seeing ~65ms typically (up from 15), and spikes to 150. The constant latency I can deal with; it's the spikes that hurt.

im in washington, anacortes, and my last game gave me my new average, which is 70, and a lovly bundle of ping spikes, which were 4000 to 2000

PROJECT Bear9/14/2015, 6:01:23 PM1 votes

I noticed the occasional spike has increased. I never had this before the server move. normally my ping sits at 70.

CookieKitKat9/18/2015, 3:16:47 AM1 votes

I had 80 ping and now it's 100 which I'm completely fine with but right now it's spiking to 1400 and sometimes up to 4,000 ping...

PROJECT Bear9/9/2015, 8:50:59 PM1 votes

my ping went from 45 to 70, and very very occasionally I've got extremely bad lag. just the other day a 5 vs 5 baron fight started, and I just saw the first 2 seconds, then it froze for several seconds, until the fight was over. the rest of the game was fine though.

Calabok9/9/2015, 10:08:13 PM1 votes

Sacramento, 70-75 ping. Works just fine

DrNova9/9/2015, 10:54:19 PM1 votes

My ping average is fine, I can deal with the increase to 60-80. But the massive and frequent spikes are a big problem
