Supports Mains Shafted

Alright, right now on the Ranked servers you get, for playing support or filling, "Guaranteed one of your choices for the next game!"

Since I main support, I have literally never had to worry about whether or not I was going to get my position. However, I am CONSTANTLY worrying about the team I am going to be in. Of the last 10 ranked games I have played, 5 were lost in other lanes, 2 were lost in my lane (usually by an ADC deciding healing = invincible), 1 was lost due to critical play errors at crucial times, 1 was lost due to a person disconnecting, and 1 was won.

I know, I know, it's a string of bad luck, and sometimes that's how the dice roll. But having gone from knocking on Gold's door to plummeting down to the bottom of Silver 2, I sort of think that maybe, juuuuuust maybe, if you're playing ONLY support and you keep losing, the game should give you something. The "Hey, you're vital to the health of this game, even if it seems like we're picking on you" prize. Something like... I dunno, not losing as many points when you have the least deaths and assists equal to the number of kills your team has gotten. Or one loss in every 3 forgiven.

Since the ranked groupings are having issues finding people WILLING to play support, maybe they should throw a bone to the ones that muddle through despite knowing only pain, suffering, and being completely unable to get the victorious skin this year await.

And sure, tell me it's all my fault, and I should be warding better and healing harder and tanking better, I get it. Yes, this is whining, but it's whining from somebody who actually started to take notes to back it up. The numbers above aren't lies.

just sounds like you're blaming your team and want special treatment for playing support. lol.

I understand your frustrations I tried to get all motovated to climb then I went 3-9 in ranked and lost all motovation to keep playing.. victorious Maokai is tempting me. Some of thoses wins were not as support (I am a fill main so I get jungle sometimes), others were wierd flukes like roaming mid and getting a double kill as support ( my mid laner got ganked and almost won a 1 v 2, I was warding river and made a dash to help only arriving in time to clean up)

I am in the same position as you.. bottom of silver 2. Gold is close, yet so far.

But I refuse, to blame my team for everything, but sometimes (often) there is nothing you could of done, accept it. Rember though there is always something you can learn even if winning cannot be achieved on your shoulders.

I'd just take a break and spam your main in normals until you feel confident again, don't let the tilt just snowball game to game to game.

That's how it's been since forever in every type of online game.

If you are playing Soraka/Braum/Sona/Taric/Janna in Silver or below, you are gonna have a terrible time. I looked up your stats, and you play a ton of supports, but you don't play any of them at a high level. Plus you are taking these pure utility supports with your Silver teams who don't know what they are even doing.

My only tip if you really want to climb is learn a mage and learn how to dominate the bot lane by yourself. You can keep playing your utility supports, too... in that case I suggest narrowing your pool and getting really good at around 3 supports. And accepting that it will be a very slow climb, mostly down to luck.

You don't need any special treatment for playing support and losing with your Silver players. You need to adjust your play to the tier you are in.

Shotcalling and objective control is a thing, people still listen to supports for that.

It is very useful in a team full of idiots and feeders.

Don't give up, you still got a month left to climb.

EDIT: Oh and hint of advice, you should try dumping your tilt and losses in normals, where losing will not lose you much. Take a break!

Okay, played another game to shake off things, try something new... I did horrible, following the advice of "play champs for the elo" instead of "play what you enjoy and have tons of practice with" but I STILL wasn't dead weight compared to the aurelion sol mid who died 5 times in the first 5 minutes to karma, and proceeded to dive every chance he got.

I had something like 11 deaths (many of them trying to save people who were over-extended, but I won't make excuses, I sucked). I wasn't even the top. He was at 18.

I was behind, but I was still able to put down stranglethorns, lock people down, and slow their team. But every fight was a 5v4 before we even got there.

How does one plan with people who refuse to listen? I watched the other team work like clockwork... I'm starting to think I'm just having the worst luck possible.
