Placement - Considering Quitting

So I've been playing League of Legends on and off since Beta.

Last season or pre-season more so I guess, I made it back upto Silver V after years of elo hell and less than enjoyable ranked play to say the least. After even getting towards the higher Bronzes or low Silver I was motivated due to progress to play more and even because while it was marginal ranked play was more enjoyable, less "top or feed" or troll players.

So I went 9-1 in placement and ended up in Bronze IV. I don't think I was lower than Bronze III all last season and even made it as high as Silver IV, being in Silver V directly prior to placements.

How does this work? I'd at least like a valid explanation on the placement system. Either way it's pretty demotivating.

Basically, the way it works is, the longer you play, the more money Riot thinks you'll spend on skins.

So they continually tweak the system to screw you into having to progress through the ladder again.

This account has a higher than 50% W/L rate (+30 wins or so out of a little over 400 games... so almost a 60% win rate), but can't advance out of Bronze, it would seem. Even when it gets into mid-Silver, they tweak the new season placement and put it right back into Bronze.

Its mostly based on your MMR, if your MMR is lower than it should be for that division, you'll get placed lower as a result. This actually happens pretty frequently, placements don't have too huge of an impact, unless its the very first time you're ever doing them.

I was silver III last season, and I fully expect to get put in bronze (mostly because I hadn't played in a while, so my MMR likely decayed significantly), but i'll just work on it and climb out.

Good luck with that. This account was in elo hell, hovering in Bronze 5 since season 3. Was down about 50 losses in my W/L rate. Spent a week getting it to even, got out of Bronze, now it has almost a 60% win rate (about an 80 win swing) and apparently still has shitty mmr.

I think riot is working on dynamic queue at the moment and hasn't addressed the elo soft reset. Judging by the pre and post placement of players, it is pretty much guaranteed that riot messed up somewhere along the line.

This happens every year

I went 9-1 last season too and got into Bronze 3. I played 2 games after and went directly to my promos, and won all 3 and then went to Bronze 1. I couldnt keep on going because season ended. Like I know about MMR and all that stuff, but also that it is very skewed. Especially if you don't play ranked much.

  1. After Placements, you won't be the same rank you ended S5 / S6 Preseason as.
  2. If you deserve to be a higher rank, then eventually you will get there.

For those who don't understand why there are MMR resets and why Placements are how they are take into consideration the following.

The game is constantly changing, Players can be a Bronze material player one patch and a Gold Player in another patch. Don't expect to be the same rank every season just because you ended S5 as X rank. The game is always changing that means the player must adapt to these changes. Some players adapt to change better than others, that is why they are ranked higher. The point of the MMR Reset is to display how a player has adapted to these changes, which means the rank you're placed at isn't so significant. 10 Game is statistically not a large enough sample size to draw any conclusions, so stop worrying about your Rank and continue playing more games.

Not even a week into Season 6 so stop complaining.

gonna say this to you again how do high elo players wind up bronze while low elo players get silver who win only 2-4 placements and i win 9 outta 10 and get bronze ive done research and it appears that placement system is broken (few challenger players placed bronze)
