When will the AFK/Griefer problem be fixed?

I recently had a day off, and most of it I played ranked solo. Over the course of 12~ games, 4 had leavers on my team, including 1 of which was my promo. Outside of that it was a mixed bag of success. However, overall, I was winning, hence making it to promo.

It is well known this community is incredibly bad. The system in place for dealing with this are almost nonexistent. I have a lot of fun playing this game, but when the bad manners and afking cause the game to be so toxic, so filled with people not interested in the team aspect of the team oriented game, why is there no answer from Riot? Are they too busy making another Teemo skin?

This is a plague, and it infecting more and more as the problem festers. Things like latency issues, disconnects and afks are the underlying problem that need to be addressed, and when problems like those go away, the bad manners will begin to heal.

If you are known to have latency issues, you should not be playing ranked. Ping can be determined from both ends; The sender and the receiver. If a server side log was created to monitor latency and win/loss, Riot could effectively prevent people from joining Ranked play. Large latency + heavy losses would lock you out of ranked play for a while. If the problem continues, a longer ban from ranked play. How easy would that be to set up?

Disconnects can be categorized under the same solution. Too many would equal the same type of punishment. If you do not have a consistent connection, you should not be playing ranked.

Stop relying on the community to resolve this issue.

I am part of the problem. The time I invest should go to fun experiences. Instead I am too often stuck in situations where people have left, or GG at 7 minutes because of a 0/2 mid lane. I get to then sit in the game for no less than 20 minutes, investing time in to what will be a failed match. It happens so often I have gotten so cynical about it, to the point where I fed in to the toxicity.

I have confidence if Riot fixes the latency/disconnect issue, there will be less afks, less fighting, less toxicity. And a solution like the one above would be a solid step in that direction.

Riot used to comminicate to the players about issues like this.. we would have large posts from the president (Trynda) and other top level execs..discussing real issues. Not any more, not in years actually. Now all we get is sales, skins, chroma colors (who cares), and its all about LCS.

We used to get cool patch preview youtube videos, morello and phreak would explain major changes.. not any more, not in years actually.. now we just get shallow text in the patch notes that attempts to be funny, followed up with a couple of people on a couch that sometimes we can't understand and they contridict each other, and they focus on LCS anyways.
