What does the rest of the community think about the current MMR calculation?

I have been playing lol since S6. I never really got decent at the game until S9. I was placed in gold 4 at the beginning of the season and cruised to gold 2 fairly easy. This is otherwise known as elo hell. My stats were affected by people that flamed, inted, played champs for the first time, one tricks, etc. I could pop off and go 12-3 or something and still lose the game for other people's... lack of maturity. This made it very difficult to reach plat 4 (where I am now). I still get these teammates somehow too.

I just think that a player individually that plays well in a game (in solo/duo queue) should not 1) lose as much LP for others errors and 2) drastically affect their MMR, because that is not their true MMR. The algorithm that is currently in place is out dated and causes a lot of good players to give up playing. I have read people suggesting a flat MMR scale amongst others. What does the rest of the community think should change & what does riot plan to change?

They have the same problem as up to 7 years ago

INTers, AFKers, Smurfers - Things artificially effecting it Working off of a calculation system built for 1v1, not 5v5 - Things naturally wrong with it
