i rather enjoy ascension but seem to do best with renekton

Who cares? Ascension sucks. It's just Dominion with a lot of map fog.

Illaoi is fun. I am doing rather good with Soraka. I've seen plenty of good Zeds. Teemo is still Godmo.

Just a few there.

stealth, tanks, assassins, brawlers.

look at the map, there is your side and the enemy side. fight on your side, avoid fighting on the enemy side.

don't value chasing the enemy, if they leave look to see what objectives you can take.

stay grouped.

Skarner. If you get Ascension late game, you crush everything in your path. It's the most OP thing I've ever seen in League. Even if you don't get Ascension, you're still extremely strong. Better yet, no one ever bans him.

Assassins,fighters, high dps tanks(no full tank maokai/ali/Braum) and a few select marksmen like teemo, lucian, graves, kindred are also very good. self healing fighters with little to no mana cost are some of the best /. Full ap teemo shrooms destroy non tanky champs.

when you pick your champ just ask yourself "Can I 1v1 a Draven with just a Bloodthirster?" If the answer is no you should rethink your choice.

Bruisers/Tanks/Juggernauts seem to be the stronger classes. Assassins tend have trouble dueling with them, mages can't burst them down easily (you start with just enough gold for a hexdrinker), and marksmen don't have a laning phase to build up enough gold to buy the items to deal with them. Early game bruisers like Renek, Garen, Darius, Xin, etc can snowball early and keep their lead intact. And if they get ascended... good luck bringing them down without losing two or three allies in the process.

Heim, Teemo, and Shaco are all really great at camping the relic spawns and just being a nuisance in general.

Pantheon is great since he can ult to relic points to stop an enemy capture, is strong right from the get-go, and has the point and click cc to deal with mobile opponents.

Blitz can be absolutely game changing if his grabs connect frequently.

Lastly, any AoE mages like Cho, Brand, and Malz can absolutely rip an entire team up if left to their own devices. These tend to be risky however, as assassins can shut them down. Except for Cho, as he just screams and then eats them.
