Gripes About Forced Autofill
Forced Autofill is like laning vs
A Fun Dude who was kind enough to give you
A Light.
Anybody else dissatisfied with the current Autofill mechanic? As a filthy bronze player, I suck at adc and jungle. I don't find these roles fun, and I don't feel like going into Normals to practice them. If I get autofilled to these roles, I either have to:
- Switch with someone. This deprives them of the role they wanted to play, making the experience less enjoyable for them. If nobody offers, then...
- Dodge. I lose LP, have to wait, and there's higher queue times for everyone else. If I refuse that, then...
- Play a role I suck at, feed, and probably lose. Waste 40 minutes of my time, and dragging my teammates through a 40-minute slog of a loss.
My suggestion: if my role isn't available, give me a notification and ask me if I would like to change roles. Example:
Greetings, Summoner. We are having difficulty finding a good match for you with your selected roles. If you would like to switch to [SUPPORT] or [JUNGLE], we could place you in a match much quicker. Or, you can sit here and scroll through Reddit while we find someone who isn't as bad as you, and let them jungle.
##Pros:
- People don't get forced into a bad role that they will just end up dodging/feeding
- No more begging in champ select to trade lanes
- Players can opt to fill at any time, if they deem the wait too long
- I consider it less tilting if I know I'm going to be filled, rather than "Surprise! Welcome to support again!"
##Cons:
- If everyone stubbornly refuses to change, then Autofill cannot work
- It may become a waiting game between players, seeing who will give in and play support (or whichever role) first
Well, there's my two cents. What do you all think could be done to improve the Autofill system? What glaring issue immediately shoots down my idea?
