Ridiculous LP Gains and Losses

I've been playing ranked more often and more successfully this season, and in my games I've realized something that doesn't quite make sense. I played 4 games today, 3 of them wins and 1 a loss. The victories were total blowouts, but I only received 12, 9, and 8 LP points. Then, I lose a game, a loss that was not at all my fault (I went Nautilus support and went 7-7-14) and I lose 20 of my 29 points. That is what pushed me over the line, to the point of writing this. The LP system that allows this rip-offery is one that should be improved. I try my hardest in a low-elo environment, and win a large majority of the time, then lose a game, and all my LP with it.

So as we can see from the details, you are receiving a low amount of LP per victory but losing a lot of LP per defeat. There is a reason why that is the case for you.

Your MMR is super low. You are in Bronze IV right now but according to your MMR, you have the equivalent skills of a Bronze V or even lower possibly. So the idea behind this system is since you are so much better than your opponents, it shouldn't be hard to win against them, therefore rewarding you less, and if you lose to opponents worse than you, than you deserve quite a big loss in LP. This works both ways meaning if your MMR is around the Bronze II level, and you are beating people who are better than you, you deserve a lot of LP for overcoming stronger opponents, but if you lose, it was a tough match since they are better and the system will go easy on you.

It's a pretty vicious cycle, and it's hard to recover from both low and high MMR. Just know that each win you get, it will be easier each time as your MMR starts growing.

Please don't take what I said personally. For all I know, you're super good but just have shitty teammates, it happens to everyone once in a while. But as of the system, it is mostly accurate. Good luck!
