Stop putting new accs in low gold mmr.

Gold 3-4 has felt like a coin flip for the most part. For many of the games it seems it's whoever gets the unranked player on their team doesn't win.

In addition to that, I recently had a game with a 40% win-rate silver 2 adc was matched with a gold 3 adc main, and the silver wasn't dued with anyone. Why cant they put people where they belong.

Frankly because a lot of people quit, so less people to match people with. According to op.gg we are down to 12m players ranked Bronze or above globally. Only 1.5M in the NA region.

Figure the average league player only plays ranked for less than an hour a day.... hell we'll call it an hour. The average is 62.500 people on at any given hour, likely split more one sided during weekday prime time. Still don't expect to see much more than 100,000 people on at any given time.

Gold 3 makes up only 7% of the population. so at most 7000 gold 3 people on during prime time. Average game is around half an hour, and average queue is only a minute or 2. Figure 1.5 minutes. So at any given time that's only 350 people in queue, or 35 games worth.

People complained about being auto filled so the system tries to match outside that range before autofilling.

Solo lanes and jungles are the most popular roles, followed by ADC and support. Figure around a 10/9/8/7/6 weight scale. Now figure in that fact that bot lane is the most common duo queue, so ADC is even more rare to be solo queuing. So what you have is likely an auto filled support being forced to match with an ADC that likely isn't available. If 1/3 of all bot lanes are duos that shifts the weight even further into matching outside the G3 range.

Long story short all of these works out to around 1 in 20 games the system has to dip lower for an adc pick. You likely had an enemy team that looked like S1/G4/G4/G4/G3 and you team was more like S2/G4/G4/G5/G2 with the support being the G2. Supports tend to be higher Elo just because higher elo players are more likely to support.

Personally I think they could fix all of this by enforcing a system that matches like Division ADC's and Supports that queue solo. That would prevent those random lower ELO adc games. A less skilled ADC generally screws 2 people instead of just one unlike other roles. I kinda feel the same way about jungles myself. I don't think teams should be matches where the jungle is more than 1 division off from the others. Jungle just has too much game presence to match a S2 Jungle vs a Gold 3 jungle. Mid and Top can usually get away with it by just giving up farm and playing safe. A farmless ADC or an gankless jungle might as well be AFKs though.

Yeah, I thought it was weird when they were putting new players in silver. I thought with the addition of Iron, they would be lowering the base mmr for new accounts, like to bronze or something. Seems weird they're putting them in gold instead.

I would agree, I have been playing ranked for the first time after many years in this game, and currently at Silver 1 against mostly gold teams. When the team is mostly mid-gold, I find the games quite enjoyable. But the games where either the supp or adc is 'first time ranked' or low silver on my team, it felt unwinnable. They either position poorly and gets picked off too easily, or don't auto much in fights. I try to be encouraging, and give them tips which they usually appreciate. But I think the idea of at least making sure the bot lane is evenly matched in rank is a great idea suggested above. And what's up with having the games in promo seemly having greater chance of getting much lower elo people on your side?
