[IDEA] How to deal with a person who never connects

Teemo Bukkake··28 votes·1,653 views

In Counter Strike: GO before the match starts is the warmup. This gives a chance for everyone in the game to connect. Once everyone connects, the game starts and everyone is happy. If someone doesn't connect, The game never starts. The game ends and nobody wins

This system of the game never starting would help provide a fair game instead of having a 4v5.

Of course a punishment would still be issued for the person who never connects (being low prios or whatever)

This is just me speaking my mind. Maybe this idea could pick up or something. Amumu

"Of course a punishment would still be issued for the person who never connects (being low prios or whatever)"

If they dont connect to a game and therefore dont ruin a game I see no reason they should be punished, I never had problems in the old days when riot implemented punishments for dodging Q for "To many people are free dodging cus they dont like something"

Yeah, I guess that is right. Though it would be a big inconvenience for everyone

waiting 30 years for a queue and you have to wait again

They should be punished, they wasted everyones time up to that point.

In a ranked draft game, this can be 10 minutes including the loading times, that is definitely enough to get put into a low priority queue in my opinion.

And with the new system Ive had to deal with more dodges than I ever did with the old system where nobody was afraid to leave Que

it doesnt reflect in game behavior or play, and shouldn't be punished (unless of course they abuse it in which case an automated system would pick up that you dodge WAYYYYYYY to much)

how is instigating a 4v5 NOT ruining a game?

Arcade Andrew1 votes

they are not instigating a 4v5, they never connected to the game therefore with OP's idea there would never be a 4v5 game to be played,

OP's idea is "somebody doesnt connect the match wont start- punish those who didnt connect"

under OP's idea games would no longer start if somebody didnt connect in load screen

but they shouldnt be punished for it

inb4: Aww, I've never been called OP before

To add to the OP: maybe if the person doesn't connect, the loading screen waits for an additional 3 minutes (just incase someone's computer just crashed and needed a quick restart) unless the player has a recent history of leaving games

I really like the idea that if someone never connects that it would wait a little bit.

People would leave in the waiting lobby in ranked if they didn't like their team if there was no punishment.

True. A system like this would be too easy to abuse.

LankPants1 votes

The system isn't innately abusable, just if you don't punish for abuse.

If you had an appropriate LP loss and a 15 minute que timer (slightly higher than que dodge since you wasted more time) it would be fine. I don't think anyone would get too pissed off about it since they'd just lose if the system wasn't in place.

Unfortunately, though I'd love this idea, it'd be VERY easy to abuse.

Mind elaborating? I'm open to criticism Gangplank

"I don't like my team- I will now disconnect"

Teemo Bukkake1 votes

Yeah, though im talking about in the loading screen. Like, when the game starts and someone DCs the team is shit outta luck

Nameless Voice1 votes

But they do this already.

With the proposed system, the player doing it would get their leaver penalty, but the other players wouldn't have to play a 5v4, or be punished for losing one.

IcyPepper1 votes

Can't we already do that by dodging? With this system

Of course a punishment would still be issued for the person who never connects (being low prios or whatever)

you wouldn't get off scott free. And neither you would by dodging, which gives you a short waiting time (and it would be more convenient than waiting until the loading screen anyway).

Dragonface2 votes

Frevkin kinda had it right. If you duo with someone who is low ELO and doesn't care, and you're trying to rise up, your friend can just wait until game gets started, and dodge.

ElJanitorFrank2 votes

Why would you be duoing with someone like that? This doesn't make sense to me.

That isn't abusing this proposed system, that is doing something else entirely.

This system would prevent some 4v5s, not stop all of them.

Dragonface1 votes

Not really. Playing with someone who doesn't care about their rank and only cares about having fun duoing with someone who cares about their rank and wants to rank up, would mean you get a bad match, and the dude who doesn't care about rank just dodges, and bam, you get a free reroll. There is literally no system for ranked that you can dream of that isn't able to abused that will allow you to not lose LP in certain situations.

Any idea is better than the current system now imo.

Oh you ;^)

There is 1 freebie per 10 games, where no punishment is given for not connecting. However, on the second time you must wait 10 minutes after starting the queue in order to get to the actual Q On the third, you have it for 5 games. On the fourth, the punishments of disconnecting for over 5 minutes from the middle of the game occur, starting from what the punishment would be for leaving 3 games

Teemo Bukkake2 votes

I actually really like that idea

There have been multiple times when I had to restart my League Client and ended up getting into the game four minutes late.

bvcderrttyyhjjjk1 votes

OMG please let this be a thing. I don't want to lose rankeds because of AFKs. Just demote the AFker of an an entire freaking division and let everyone else just walk away, or at least win/lose greatly reduced amounts of LP.

Summonerrr 11 votes

That's my point. I think the queue dodging timeout is perfectly fine, Had to go through 4-5 champ selects on release day due to people dodging because they couldn't autolock Ekko before the other guy, if there wasn't a timeout it'd be at least 20.

I see no reason not to tack on a similar measure to this idea, considering the fact that by not connecting you've wasted a minimum of 5 or so minutes (discounting the time it takes to find another match, etc.) of other people's time.

I'm not saying they should be banned by any means, but if you're going to make the game cancel after matching because one person bailed, that kind of behavior needs to be discouraged, unintentional or not.

This idea is not perfect but atleast it's better than 4 vs 5.
