Taliyah Mid 6.14 Nerf or Buff? I vote Buff

Hey all! This is regarding the new patch on Taliyah and I am wondering if you all agree or disagree with me. My experience with Taliyah has been more than favorable. I had about 90 ranked games with her under my belt with a 63% winrate with her at Gold V to II before patch 6.14. Now in current patch 6.14, I have roughly 115 ranked games total with her (so 25 games under 6.14) with a winrate still at 62% and I am currently in Gold I (Close to Plat!!!). You can verify by looking at my profile. Anyway lets get started.

6.14 provided an interesting spin on Taliyah: changing the mechanic (vector casting) and removing the lockout of her W, and nerfing her damage on her on her E

As someone who already played 90 game with her, I knew instantly that this will be a problem early on because 1.) I would have to learn vector casting (I dont play rumble or etc) 2.) The damage nerf is huge! This will seriously take a toll on her ganking ability, one of the main reasons to play her.

And so the first few games I played with her were all losses with a horrendous KDA. Too embarrassed to tell you. Go check it up. However, over time I slowly scaled to 62% winrate again!

Here are my thoughts on 6.14. For people who can't vector cast, you will see this as a complete nerf, making her unplayable However, learning this mechanic simply just takes time to practice. And so now I can play her AND Rumble!! Secondly, the damage nerf, I noticed, was truly balanced by the removal of the lockout. Before 6.14, the simple combo was E>W in order to proc E's second ability, but now with the patch, I can also use W>E for the same effect. This matters TREMENDOUSLY as I traded damage for utility, opportunity, and fluidity. Also, because of the lockout, I could pull off combos faster than before! This made ganking extremely efficient.

The W buff allows Taliyah to safely lane against her opponents 1v1 like a true mage. Before 6.14, because of warped ground, my Q wasn't enough for me to safely lane against opponents. I would have to clear minion waves with my E>W to use my Q on my opponents. And if I tried to use my E against them, my range made me very vulnerable to their attacks.

To give a simple analogy, this was like taking summoner 4 instead of summoner 14 Ignite is simple and straightforward, while Flash takes some time to master.

Again, if you think I have no idea what i'm talking about, check my profile!

I believe in Taliyah ! She is the first champion where I have TWO pentas on a single champion in Ranked! And my devotion towards her will not be shaken!!

Thoughts?

Taliyah's change is good as it makes her more friendly to a wider audience, but I'm bad at Viktor and Rumble so this leaves me with much to learn.

she's got a 46% win rate now, champion.gg

it was definitely a nerf, but i'm not complaining

Sample size a bit too small on champion.gg (less than 9000), so its not very credible. Also, on the same site, check winrate % by games played. People who played 15-50 games with her will see that she has roughly 50% winrate still. The patch was only recently released. Give it time

this is a taliyah thread kid, not a sona thread

I would apologize because I was jumping between Sona and Taliyah subject threads and confused myself,

but I won't because you're an asshole and wrong.

It goes both ways really.

People who were experienced with her would probably see this as a Nerf because of the damage reduction that was done to accommodate the lockout removal. That and turning her into a Combo mage.

People who weren't experienced with her would probably see this as a Buff because of Vector Casting replacing Two-Step Casting, lockout removal, and being able to W into E. It also sounds better on paper to them.

I think its the exact opposite. Players experienced with her will find that she has greater possibilities, while those with less experienced will be frustrated with new mechanic and damage nerf.

It's opened new possibilities, but also closed some off.

Oddly, the ones with less experience were the ones who asked for the change, so they're probably not frustrated with it. I don't even think most of them are even aware of the damage nerfs lol.

I can definitely see the more experienced taliyah players be a bit frustrated from the mechanic change, as it causes them to relearn her. However, the main draw was the removal of lockout, so relearning the mechanic was a small price to pay. If there wasn't a damage nerf, Taliyah would simply be too op, especially to those who already know vector casting, which is a lot of players.
