Question about playing ranked.

When trying to read about playing ranked I can never find a definitive answer to my question.

I have two friends that play, I was thinking about trying ranked with them for fun even though we are not the best. Is there a way to do 2 player and 3 player ranked on summoner rift? it sounds to me as if only solo ranked or 3v3 on twisted treeline is possible. Thanks in advance!

PS: why can I not use the left button to create a discussion? I had to follow a link from google directly to the page. constantly says I need to be level 15 and I am 30 in game.

Not sure what to say to your P.S.... You should make sure you're logged in in the upper right hand corner on the correct account before clicking Create Discussion.

As for your ranked question - there are the following ranked queues available: 3v3 on Twisted Treeline 5v5 on Summoner's Rift

The size of Summoner's Rift is simply too large with too much going on for a 3v3 battle to be realistic. I can tell you from experience with my custom 3v3 games that they take FOREVER unless there is a huge skill mismatch between the two teams.

For this season or next season?

Currently, there's three ranked queues: dynamic, ranked 3s, and ranked 5s. Ranked 3s and 5s are only available for a few hours each day and require a full 3-man for TT or 5-man team for SR. Dynamic Queue is only for SR and lets you queue with as many people as you want. Remaining spots will be filled by random players. Any person you want to queue with has to be ranked at most one tier away from you (e.g. Silver can only queue with Bronze, Silver, and Gold). There's some extra restrictions towards the higher-end of the ladder that you can look up if you want.

Next season, there's also going to be three ranked queues: solo/duo, flex, and ranked TT. Solo/duo is for SR and should be self-explanatory. Flex is essentially dynamic queue merged with ranked 5s. Ranked TT will be similar to flex, but for TT.
