As seen here, I won the game but lost elo. The reason I lost elo was I was having 500 ping (roughly 2 seconds of lag) I decided it would be better to reset my modem and my computer to see if it was any problem with my network or my computer itself. I return at the 6 minute mark and continue to play the game with no change to my lag. As the game goes on it gets slightly better, staying around a half of a second lag which is playable.

I feel it is silly to be punishing players for trying there best to fix problems and contented to play the game to the best of their abilities.

That’s why I feel the system should be updated. If on average the player has 100 ping, and for the start of the game it would be consistently higher (possible three times the average), they should have 10 minutes to restart their computer and modem and get back. 5 minutes is not enough time to restart these and get back into the game.

It would not be hard to implement this, as the connection to the server knows what ping you have and there only needs to be an average out of the last 3 or so games.

I would rather see someone try their best well lagging then having someone afk the entire game because they will lose LP regardless. I would know they had a problem that’s out of their control, but they tried anyways.

I contacted support about this issue and they suggested posting on the boards to contemplate on this idea.

TL; DR version: Make afk timers for players who have lag 10 minutes to give them time to restart their computers and join back into the game.
