New To League: Guides Please! Rito
What's the problem? So I've been playing for a while and I've seen so many people new to the game being wrekt by the daunting task of understanding what is actually happening, get disheartened and give up. Most of the time its not because they lack mechanical skill, but its just how League works: you have to know most of the game(items and champions) to play.
For example, someone who has no idea what
does will probably hate the game pretty soon after they get drained 100-0 and not be able to do anything about it. Simply put, League needs better guides for new players.
What does it mean? By guides, I don't mean mile-long texts waiting to be crunched as that is already on the wiki, but an environment for players to sort of glide into the game, requiring little to no effort to learn the game.
An example is the already existing guide where you only get to play three champions in a very controlled game, thus allowing the player to learn SR without need to worry about weird interactions between champions or the general meta. But this alone isn't enough as a PVP game is different, to say the least, than an Co-op AI game.
Why is this urgent?
As League evolves, the content simply grows and the complexity of every single champion alongside. I remember when I first started,
just came out and is at the time, a champion that has one of the highest skill floor. But now we have
, and I don't really need to state how unfortunate it is for a new player to be able to pick the champion.
- Nerd corner: From a mathematical stand point, every new addition to League will increase complexity of League by an amount proportional to the product of the complexity of the addition and the amount of content already in game, implying a more-than quadratic growth in regards to time that is unbounded
The Plea Please do something about this, League is a great game but many isn't seeing it simply because it is really complicated and gives up before the real fun begins. I care greatly about League, and as time progresses, some players will stop playing and new players will eventually have to come in, but at this rate, League will soon become a game only hardcore players can enter.
