Riot, add more supports. Please.

Figures that when Riot releases a support it's just some hybrid adc/sup combo. I like the champions, but you're forced to synergize them(even if you're able to play them individually, they'd not be viable because they would be too overpowered paired together). And I just want them to add another 'real' pure support, it really isn't too much to ask for.

I mean, you've stated multiple times you want to make the support-role more attractive; why not release more support champions? It's been a long time since we've gotten a support champion, and now Rakan/Xayah are being released you'll probably think 'Ok now that's outta the way, lets add some more junglers !!'. The last support we've gotten was Tahm Kench(or Bard if you don't count TK). In the meantime we've gotten multiple champions for the other roles + reworked champions for the other roles.

List of all recent new champions+reworked champions in order: Galio - Camille - Ivern - Yorick - Kled - Taliyah - Aurelion Sol - Jhin - Illaoi - Kindred - Tahm Kench - Ekko - Bard.

Or give an explanation why you refuse to add more support champions.

Of the new champs you listed, only Galio and Yorick are really reworks (not counting buffs, nerfs etc...) so really the only shared comparison can be between the new champs. Of the new champs, Tahm Kench and Bard were created with supporting (pure support) in mind. That Tahm has been taken to top lane on occasion due to tankiness was not really an intended outcome as far as I can tell. I feel that both Galio and Ivern have some really good support characteristics, and I have used Ivern as support to much success. We will call them hybrids for the sake of argument. So of the 11 "new champs" included in your list, 2 are pure supports, and 2 are hybrid supports. Lets start with the 2 pure and do some math. Out of 5 positions available, supports account for 1 out of 5 which is 20%. 2 supports out of 11 new champs is just over 18%. If you count 2 hybrids then new champs that can support accounts for more than 36%. I would say new supports (pure) has come close to the equivalence quota as other new roles. For comparison, lets look at the other lanes. Jungle (pure) could count Ivern and Kindred (even though as I said, Ivern can be a hybrid role and even ekko finds much success in the jungle). So again we are at 18% and even 27% with Ekko in the mix. Look at adc, where Jhin is the only one at 9% unless you count Kindred who sometimes appears at bot then it is 18%. Kled and Illaoi for top at 18%, Taliya, Aurelion Sol, and Ekko for mid (though again ekko can hybrid successfully at top and mid)... so really only two "pure mids" again at 18%. So tell me where in these statistics aren't a fair distribution? Unless of course you mean that there should be as many new supports as "all other roles" combined...

Now add the two new champs and you have an adc and support, which brings adc up to 18% (pure ADC) and 27% pure intended support. Tell me again how we need more supports...?

"The best defense is ... me!" Galio

He can be counted as a new support. Which can flex to any lane (mid/top/jung/supp).

P.s.: Oh, and also Camille has been used effectively as a support. Not counting the jungler support Ivern.

Why not give Rakan a chance in testing before you jump to conclusions?

While everybody else is freaking out about the champions and how cool they are, you are already starting a pooh-pooh thread, "Oh no, Riot released another champion along with a new support for me! Q_Q"

If anything, the other champion being released at the same time means you will have fewer 'hype-people' competing with you to try the new support.

Riot announces Rakan and you immediately go off on them for not releasing a support in the exact manner you want? What would it take to please you, your own champion design team to command on a whim? Give it a rest or at least have some patience. Support changes are on their way with mid-season, so it's not like Riot has forgotten about support.

As for balance and how well they will function alone:

Riot specifically limited how much synergy the two would have together. They each have one ability that changes when it interacts with the other champion. It's not too much, and they have plenty of tuning levers. They are completely separate characters, each should be capable of functioning fine on their own.

Riot will not just gut them, they only do that now when they can't balance easily and don't have resources needed to make such large changes, but the characters' synergies with one another are clear cut and have simple tuning levers, so this should not be an issue.

I think what you ask wont make more people play more support roles. I barely touch current supports and you want another "real" support? Do you honestly think that this will improve the support pick rate? IMO this will only improve the Support Mains but wont attract new players to play the role

Currently with the new champions Rakan and Xayah I am more interested in playing the bot lane than before

We have enough pure supports. This is a nice addition to the roster.

No one wants to play supports, at least not the vast majority of players, so they would be foolish to make a support support without adding something more to the champion. Like supports is the least played and least profitable role.

You're actually not forced to synergize them, it even says on their pages that they work well even without each other. They just get a small bonus when together and they dance when backing.
