Why do you gain tons of mastery when you win, but almost none when you lose?

So if you win a match you gain about 800 champ mastery. When you lose...about 150. Why is this?

champion mastery points are related to the overall ability of your team, not your own personal performance, the letter grade is related to ur performance... so if you lose, then you have, as a team, preformed less ability than a winning team i would suppose...

i can find the link if u need it , but this is the general statement a red posted not too long ago, u can prob find in on the boards or reddit

Yeah I really do feel like the difference between a win and a loss is way to drastic for justification. I get 1000 points for winning a game with Draven, and I lost the next game expecting to get around 400 or so, only to receive around 120 or so. I think a near 10 to 1 (or 9 to 1) ratio is a bit much between win and loss. I personally think that the game should calculate the initial mastery points as a win (so say if you win you will get 800 points), but then do a set percentage of that if you lost. I think that the mastery system values wins a bit too much, causing drastic differences overall.

It's so you play to win the game properly. And so the system doesn't encourage you or your teammates to get sidetracked into doing things that might actually hurt your team and maybe lose the game.

Farming when you should be fighting, Stealing kills for your own score, ect.
