ranking system makes me cry sometimes

so i just wanted to start a disscussion addressing the ranking system, last season i had reached bronze 1 with 3 wins out of 10 in my preliminaries (this was early on in my league days thus i was not too good at the game at the time) the very next season i was excited to start fresh, this time i won 5 out of 10 games in my preliminaries. i was expecting at least silver 5 or at the very least bronze 1 again but i was greeted with a heart breaking bronze 4 so i would just like to know what i did wrong i did significantly better than last season as the 3 wins were almost handed to me because i did so poorly and as i have deep love for all the lore and creativity of this game im just a bit upset as i feel this ranking system does not work (also i would like to adress the fact that i have a friend that secured 6 wins of 10 and was rewarded with silver 2 which just made the outcome all the more painful) :c
