Does new Last Stand rune work while you are dead?

Didn't know if the new last stand rune will still add the bonus damage if you are dead or if it deactivates when you die or if it only works on damage you applied before you died but continues on after you die

• ie. if a places down a shroom and then dies, does all the bonus damage still proc if somebody walks over it? And if so does it reduce if respawns while the damage is actively ticking?
