Performance based ELO
The ELO system needs an overhaul.
It doesn't feel good to put in an S performance and lose the same amount of LP as if you fed your face off.
It doesn't feel good to lose LP because some random player fed 3 kills to Draven and then afk'd.
It doesn't feel good for someone to troll pick, do your best, lose and de-rank/not promote.
I know it's a team game but the current ELO setup just fosters a sense of hopelessness and/or rage most of the time. There is almost no feeling of agency, that what you do affects the outcome, in the majority of games. Granted you're only 20% of the team but take away games with an AFK (for whatever reason), a total mismatched lane (400 games played on a champ vs 2), autofill (you or someone else), a shit team comp and/or (your main champion banned away) and what are you left with.
Watching streamers at higher elo and none of the above seems to disappear. Apparently, you can positively affect your ELO by dodging. Most high ELO players consider it a must. So why am I investing the time... for the low % chance I'll get a competitive game?
Maybe take a break from fiddling with items, runes and champions (1% here, 4 ap there) and look at the system. Start with "would current players recommend LoL to others?" How many of you would given the time investment required to learn champs, the length of time to get into a game, the toxicity, the afk's, the feeders...?
My irl friends that I've played this game for the past year have almost all uninstalled because they just don't have fun dealing with all the shit. I'm the last one but I'm not far behind.
