Why reintroducing Season 3 will bring back the game we fell in love with.

I hope I'm not the only one who has memories of the game we love. League of Legends.

Does anybody else remember thinking about League all day in school? Doodling champions on your papers. Do you remember meeting new people who play league and being able to just chill with them over some games of league?

Do you remember unbalanced balance?

To me that is the perfect League, the one in which all characters you say. "Wow that's OP!" Bruiser's top, Ganker's jungle, Assassin's mid, Super Carries bot, and the shitty support.

I remember the game where people would beg not to play support, but when forced everyone would pull out their pocket thresh. I want to go back to old League. The one where top lane felt like a hefty battle zone. a 1v1 extravaganza off true grit. I want to go back to the game where a Jungler flying from the darkness would leave you absolutely PISSED OFF, but you respected the jungler on your team who could completely tear up a game from the inside out. (and of course if you have a shit jungler, blame him for everything under the sun). I remember when mid lane was the epic tango, of two super skilled ability based champs who could kill each other at any moment at the twitch of the hand. I tell you guys that NOTHING felt as good as 1v1ing an equally skilled mid assassin. Remember when you got to play ADC and every click of the mouse was the difference between PENTAKILL and YOU HAVE BEEN SLAIN. Remember support... lol does anyone? It was a role we forced on the worst players (pick and ban used to be ranked by ELO with highest pick getting his position). But when you faced a GOOD thresh main. Your jaw dropped and you respectively patted your hands together. Old league was fun league. I miss it Amumu :(

Now today's game is so objective focused that I really do miss the old game. Dragon was always a bonus in season 3, not a necessity. For the team, that won a bot lane fight the call was always to go to dragon immediately afterwards and collect your free 1000 gold. It was never the focus. "Just let them have it" was a common belief back then. Dragon was helpful no doubt, but it didnt WIN OR LOSE GAMES. Unlike current dragon's which only get better and better as the game progresses.

What I'm getting at is that. I think this preseason it wouldn't hurt for riot to host some season 3 servers (Yasuo patch or Master Yi rework patch either work for me). So that the new people can say what they liked about season 3 and then Riot could port the most popular changes into season 7.)

Please understand that I'm not saying "Get rid of Season 7 and all work Riot has done since season 3," but rather "League of Legends used to be a vastly different game, that I think it be worth everyone's time to go back and replay the old league, to remind ourselves what the game we fell in love with REALLY was about. The true MOBA experience. The truest game of SKILL. and putting those old philosophies into this game" Same way Dota 2 looked at Dota allstars and CSGO looked at CS 1.6

I will leave you guys with a link hopefully this will remind us about our favorite mid showing genuine skill and having fun at the same time.

Take me back Riot. Take me back...

Season 3's jungle + jungle meta was garbage. Please no.

Rushing GP10 and being an aura-bot wasn't fun.

After reading everything you wrote, I have no idea what you actually liked about season 3. So much of it could easily be applied to any season you wanted, because you used very few examples of what you used to like aside from very vague "every lane was better but I won't say how" statements. I mean, look at this:

I want to go back to the game where a Jungler flying from the darkness would leave you absolutely PISSED OFF, but you respected the jungler on your team who could completely tear up a game from the inside out.

I could say that about the game right now. How is this something that has changed from season 3? Do you just respect good junglers less? Why?

Remember when you got to play ADC and every click of the mouse was the difference between PENTAKILL and YOU HAVE BEEN SLAIN.

Yes. It was last week. Syndra is scary and even small fuckups got me anally pounded. It's the same as always.

Seriously, I'm seeing a lot of rose-tinted glasses, but I'm not seeing much substance. That's fine if it's just your opinions, but it's not very compelling. It certainly doesn't make me think anything good about the old seasons, if you can't even tell me what you liked about them.

Dragon was always a bonus in season 3, not a necessity.

Ok, I'm sorry, but this is just wrong. Dragon was ungodly important. All early action in competitive league was centered around securing dragons. They specifically nerfed it in 3.14 to reduce the huge early snowball it always created. It wasn't until the season 4 changes that Dragon became slightly weaker (particularly after the 4.5 changes to make it harder to take).

"Just let them have it" was a common belief back then.

This belief speaks more to how you played the game at the time than how the game actually was. You may have interpreted the dragon as being unimportant, but it was due to your own lack of skill at the time.

Actually, I think that's what you really miss. I think you miss when you and the people you played with were less skilled at the game. The game was new and exciting because you didn't understand it as well. You were learning, and because you were learning, everything was much more engaging, and way cooler. That's how I feel looking back on season 2, even though I can look back at the old patch notes and realize just how much shit was terrible about that time of the game. It's nostaliga.

Just for the record, I think the game has improved massively since Season 3. It had so many problems. The number of champions who were viable was at an all-time low that we haven't reached since, certain champions were pants-on-head broken for almost the entire season, it introduced a lot of early game snowballing, and the jungle was absolutely broken beyond belief (hands up for everyone who thought that the ward-bitch, 3 levels behind, gp-10 rushing, aura building jungle needed to eat a dick).

I prefered S2 :3 I would play any old season again, once. But honestly, I like moving forward, I don't want to live stuck in the past. Going back to a memory here and there is nice, but you have to keep changing.

I preferred BETA.

When there was no meta and everyone still sucked so no one was toxic because they thought they were better than everyone else.

I would love bringing season 3 back! Make a game that was like season 3, where it actually was perfect!!!!

If I play in season 3 doesn't that mean most of the splash arts will be outdated along with some champions before their reworks and also some champions missing due to not existing in season 3? Hmm...
