Soraka's E needs a slight change.

For a while now, after Soraka's change, I found everything... Quite pleasing actually, everything seemed fine and perfect, well... There were a few things that had a few kinks, but there was one thing missing from Soraka. One thing that I enjoyed most about her. My favorite thing... He ability to give mana. Now. Looking at Soraka's kit in a whole... I started thinking... "What if her E could give mana like before?" At first it was this little thing that I thought about whenever I saw a Soraka, or whenever she came up in a discussion... Then the idea started to grow a little. If the e could silence enemies, or give mana before. Why can't it now? My idea is that her pool should allow any ally to step on the pool increased mana regen. Excluding herself of course. And same to how she snares any enemy when the pool ends, if the pool ends and an ally is within the pool, it gives the ally a small movement speed buff. This allows the play to have a more varying change to how the play Soraka. For as I see it. Soraka is forced to go aggressive. And here soraka is, I quote, "A healer gifted with the magic of the stars, Soraka holds all living creatures close to her heart." Honestly... Why type of healer, has her kit built more towards aggression, rather than helping her teammates. With this change to her kit, it allows the summoner to choose how they play her. Aggressive, or Supportive. They could either silence their enemy and hold them in place. Or give mana to their ally and speed them. Either way works, but it helps tremendously in gameplay.

I don't know how you came to the conclusion that Soraka, the ONLY champion in the game that has an ability that can be used on allies, but not herself, should be playing "aggressive." Could you care to explain why you think she's forced into being aggressive? I think Soraka promotes an aggressive playstyle due to how her W and Q work separately/together, but I don't think Soraka is the one directly applying pressure in that scenario, and honestly she could very well be played passive too. I think you have a very foggy definition of what it means to be aggressive.

Now, about your Suggestion; I think you're missing the point of Soraka's E,Equinox

Silencing/holding them in place Is being supportive. It disables threats like assassins/mages caught in it and let's her teammates smack around anyone effected by it with little to no harm; I honestly don't even know how you're using it aggressively(But I Digress).

Standing still to move faster makes no sense. I'm sorry, but It doesn't. When Riot was originally talking about reworking Soraka, they explicitly stated they wanted to make her less of a "Walking fountain", but wanted to keep what made Soraka, well, Soraka; and was her Healing. Even If the ability was compensated to allow it to grant mana regen, It would not be intuitive design because they want Soraka to be SUPPORTIVE to her allies through her abilities OWN abilities, not the other way around.

I did like her old E a lot better, SIlencing and Giving Mana, even though the giving mana part was a bit too strong sometimes, they could have just reduced the amount/ increase cooldown or something.

I really dislike her new E. When you play in PvP it only hits if the enemy is in a terrible, terrible position. While the AoE stun time is good, it doesn't feel very helpful when it's so unreliable to actually hit. It's still helpful but extremely unreliable. She used to be my favorite support with her old E, but now she's just a support that I like.

I like that her new Q grants her health with W, and I like that W drains her health, but new E is overall just disappointing. I've played Soraka in matches with noobs and with people a lot better than me and E still rarely hits anyone. The time it takes to actually land is usually plenty of time for anyone to walk out of range. Which is opposite of her Q which is very easy to hit and mostly unavoidable.

I also felt like her old E made her unique, and now she's really not that unique. She's still a good healer, but the E is honestly a crappy ability. I suppose it makes up for her Q, W, and R being so good.

How is an instant AoE silence disappointing?

I'm glad the skill has a >20 second CD rank 1, because that's what it should get for being such a powerful skill.

They can easily walk out within 1 second and the snare is mostly ineffective for the same reason. Even playing against complete beginners the E has almost no effect on them. They just walk away rendering it pointless. And you can say 'You're just bad at it' all you want, but the fact is it is extremely easy to avoid. Like someone else said, even using her Q to slow before using E, E still usually fails to snare. E is only good when timed perfectly with someone else's CC so that it automatically hits, but without that it's a waste to use most times.

If enemies kept the silence for a brief duration even after leaving the AoE it would be nice, but without that it is almost useless at least half the times it should be cast. The silence only happens when the circle is visible and the enemy is inside the circle. The second it wears off/or they walk out they're no longer silenced.

It's a good distraction, and works well when your allies have CC you can rely on, but other than that it's her worst ability now.

If they can't walk out in one second it's even more OP O.o

Soraka E is a nightmare to anyone that's diving. By having the ADC move over the area of effect, not only do you have to deal with a silence, but if the ADC wants to fight you by kiting you over the AoE you risk getting rooted as well. Meanwhile, it's either you walk out of the AoE while losing distance between you or the ADC or keep chasing while unable to cast any spells/items.

Soraka's E should be centered over the ADC or another priority target, not the enemy diver. It's not supposed to be an offensive CC unless you have some ways to slow the target by 60%+ (because E will never hit otherwise).

Assassins, especially the ones with only one gap closer, hates this ability. They can't kill fast enough just with AAs (unless you are Zed) and they can't cast while standing on the AoE. Akali, for example, cries if she can't cast immediately after she uses ult to go in. And giving your team 1.5 seconds to react to the enemy assassin is enough to ensure that you coordinate to counter assassins properly.

Bruisers have it better, but they don't kill the ADC fast enough. They always risk having the ADC fight them while in the zone and getting rooted afterwards, giving ADC more time to disengage/damage. The best counter-strategy in that case is to walk in the direction of the ADC and walk behind them to seal their positioning assuming you can tank the damage.

The better counter strategy is to always have diver buddies with you, with one threatening the ADC and the other one trying to position to seal off the ADC's position.

Still, Soraka's E drastically changes the combat dynamics of any gap-close-dive champions. They need to deal with how to re-engage on an ADC once they have dealt with the denial zone.

Edit: Soraka's Old E is oppressive as fuck to any assassin. Point-and-click 3.25 second silence is the true denial tool. Bonus points if she had Rylai's!

All great points but it still doesn't change the fact it is extremely easy to avoid. And I said within 1 second, meaning usually less than 1 second and they are safely out of it.

There's no denying the effects are good, but when it's that easy to avoid especially if anyone has any MS at all they can just entirely negate its purpose most times. Most people can avoid it or walk through the entire diameter without even trying just because it's that easy to walk out of. If there was no snare, but instead it slowed enemies walking through it then it would be more effective.

This is a loaded poll because I like them to play differently depending on what carry im using.

E should change, in my opinion. Right now it seems like E is supposed to combo off of a perfect Q to enhance the silence and achieve a root. Problem is, even with that CC, she still doesn't hit that root. It also leaves her very vulnerable when both were just spent for minimal effect, and so the enemy gets a free damage spree after that. I have yet to see a Soraka I truly feared in bottom lane; her kit is just meant to whittle her own HP and mana away, it seems.

TBH I do not like her healing setup, W needs to be a flat cost, not a percent max health.

SouL1ess1 votes

Well I think they can always change it to be partially flat cost and partially max health.

So Soraka with Rod of Ages doesn't make everyone happy.

Edit: OR they can make starcall's heal effect recover a portion of Soraka's maximum health as well.
