Dear Riot, where do you draw the line between Silver and Bronze?
I played League starting the end of Season 3. My friends, who were silver at the time, taught and learned with me, most of them in high gold, plat, and one of them in diamond now. Meanwhile, I decided that if they got out of silver, I could follow their path, as I had done the same.
So please, Riot, tell me, could you tell me how am I supposed to succeed as they had done when you altered the ranking system? The only thing I know is that they changed it so it's easier to get into Silver ranking. I thought that'd be a great advantage for me, since I started playing ranked a little into Season 4. However, I found that, not only was it not an advantage, it was a great hindrance. I remember asking my friends in Season 3 what it took to get to Silver, since Bronze was notorious for bad players, and I anticipated I would be going there. They told me, to at least attain Silver 5, you needed 5 wins out of 10. I achieved 6 wins in my placements and got placed into Silver 3, which I was ecstatic about. But, when I was playing a normal game the other day, I ran into quite the peculiar player. Not only was he toxic, excessively rude, and, no offense, not at my level of gameplay he was a rank higher than me, Silver 3 (I dropped, but that's a different matter). It perplexed me, how could someone who did not know that pink wards revealed regular wards or that taking cs from the adc would hurt the adc's ability to provide to the team be my rank? My first 10 ranked games were filled with people that had an understanding of these things, and other things such as when to break off from fights, when to contest an objective and when it was best not to. Today, though, players like him make it to my rank which I so desperately try and claw my way out of with only three out of ten wins. My question now is this, what is the difference between Bronze and Silver? I could easily be carried to victory in three out of ten games and be placed into Silver 5 or 4, so why allow them to be placed in Silver with us? Ranks are a way of showing how skilled you are in a game. My placing in Silver was to see how I'd fare against others my skill level, with teammates of my skill level. People saw Silver as the middle ground, where you weren't good enough to be a Gold player, but not bad enough to be a Bronze player, meaning you had potential. Now? You can have all the potential in the world and still get dropped. Please, if someone is going to respond, at least tell me where the differentiation is drawn between these two ranks.
