Dynamic Queue and matchmaking issue
Not going to post the name unless someone from Riot is curious, so don't ask. I was recently playing a game with a couple of friends, having a bit of a ranked day. Three of us (me in silver 3 and them in bronze 2 and 4) matched up with a lee sin jungle and.... another guy. The enemy team were all what you would expect of good enough players, and facing off against them was fun (minus the Riven curbstomp, but I digress). It would have been a fine loss to take, but for ONE thing. The 'other guy'. He was in his provisionals, and had only played 7 games in ranked at the time. Lost most of them, but I'm not sure if it adjusts while you play any more. In champ select we asked him not to play teemo support, so he swapped over to Karthus. Heal/ghost Karthus with grasp of the Undying and no runes to speak of then entered the game. Went up to ward tri bush and then stuck around top lane. Not much of a support area. No words were ever typed out from them nor were any pings issued at any point. He just sort of tried to help to the best of his abilities, I'd assume. The only issue I had was that he was nowhere near as skilled as the rest of the people in game. If he wasn't supposed to be adjusted to people of his skill level throughout provisionals, I wouldn't complain, but I think that's how it works. So was it our MMR? Doubt that much. Both this season and last season his win percentage was MUCH lower than what our combined average was. So can this be dealt with a little bit? It's probably not a good idea to have semi-new players playing with or against premade groups in the first place, for carry/stomping reasons.
This is a cup of tears for a loss I don't think I deserved, and would have liked a chance with a full roster on my team of people closer to the average skill level.
Thanks for reading. Wish me luck on the grind to gold.[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
