Fiora or Graves?

I started playing Top Lane recently and plan to expand my champion pool for the role. I don't know who is better at the moment, Graves or Fiora. My friends have been telling me to get Fiora because of her ability to 1v1, Split-Push, and single-handedly carry games. But I looked at Graves and noticed that he can do the same except that he's ranged plus he does relatively ok against some of the other Top Laners.
